Her Destined Alpha
Chapter 26

RAIHANA

His piercing green eyes were wide with shock, he looked stunned. Despite my calm front, I was nervous… It had all happened on my 18th birthday. I was meant to have my first shift, and I had felt my wolf awaken. But… I hadn’t been able to shift easily, it was slow and what usually took a few seconds took an hour. Dad had been the only one with me as he had told Mom to leave, realising something was wrong.

He had not wanted her to witness it. I still remember the b***d, the torn skin, the pain… It was the first and last time I shifted, it almost felt like something was blocking my shift. I hadn’t even been able to hold the shift, seconds after shifting, my body reverted to human form.

But along with it… I had awakened as a witch. At the time, Dad had simply comforted me, but the following day he had sent Mom off on a trip to her father’s pack. He had made me sit down and told me that I might be a witch.

I mean, he didn’t even let Mom see me.

I knew I probably smelt like a witch. I had denied it vehemently at first, but in my upset state, I had brought my powers forth. That answered all: my questions. I was what one would call a hybrid. Part witch, part wolf.

Dad had a few grimoires that had been taken from the cavern of the rogues years ago, and he was meant to be keeping them safe. After all, no one but a witch could destroy a grimoire. The council had given Uncle Alejandro the right of decision on who would mind the grimoires, and he had split them between three packs. It was kept secret, with our pack holding three of the seven books. We had spent hours working on finding a spell to conceal my aura as a witch.

The language in the books was different, but it made sense to both Dad and me. The spell was a fairly common one, and luckily, I had managed it. From those grimoires, we had learned. some of the history of witches legacies.

( FLASHBACK ) ”Dad…. if I’m a witch… does that mean I’m evil?” I asked quietly.

”Not at all, princess.” He smiled gently at me. ”You know, Alejandro said that Endora, our mother, said I was always immune to her spells. I guess there’s some witchcraft in me too. It isn’t normal for a werewolf to be able to read this language, but here I am.

”But Mom hates witches.” I whispered. He cupped my face and looked into my eyes. ”She has only seen those who are bad, not all witches are.” His words were firm and warm, like a fire on a winter night, welcoming me into its embrace. I believed him.

”But according to the Grimoire of Shadows, it states that I most likely inherited some of Endora’s powers too.

”Perhaps, but that does not make you evil. The way I see it, our actions speak for themselves. You are still Raihana Rossi, the one and only princess of our family. “I laughed softly,” I love you, Dad. I don’t think anyone is as lucky to have a kinder father. Dad, do

you think if I learned some spells of protection, would that be ok? I mean, if there is ever a witch attack, I could be of” I didn’t miss him tensing or the conflict … Yes, he loved me and wouldn’t judge me, but he also wasn’t willing for the world to know who I was…

”I believe that one day, witches and werewolves will live alongside one another in peace. But before even thinking of learning spells, learn to control your powers. You have a long way to go to this. Meditation and being at peace are the best ways.” He said, turning the p pages of the Book of Sight. ”Are we allowed to view these?

” ”Well, apparently no werewolves can actually read what it says. I’m supposed to be keeping these safe where witches can’t get a hand on them … No one said I can’t look at them … I’m sure you can realise that if these fall into the wrong hands it could be dangerous.”

I nodded, as Dad hugged me tightly. ”Ok try the spell of concealment.” He said, stepping back. I nodded, despite the confidence and calmness in his voice, I didn’t miss the worry that was radiating off of him…. (END OF FLASHBACK) It hadn’t been hard;

I was a fast learner, and even at Christmas time, no one picked up that I was a witch. My spell of concealment worked, and I was just Raihana again, someone who refused to take part in a run even after shifting.

Who has become even more snooty and arrogant as of lately… My friends had called me a diva when I said I didn’t want to get muddy. If only they knew my wolf was somehow trapped. Although Dad said he would look for a spell, he refused to allow me access to the books again.

That was what I was looking for, the keys to the vault where he kept them… When I saw his office window open earlier… I had decided to take the risk.

The secret that had stayed between us was now being shared with Chris. I don’t understand why Dad was adamant about having someone in on this, but he was, and I didn’t get why Chris of all people.

The man was as irritating and antagonising as he was handsome. I personally feel it was his looks that kept him from being murdered and buried years ago. ”So, there you have it.” Dad finished sitting back after explaining it all. Chris was frowning, it was rare to see him so serious.

”You know sooner or later you need to tell the Luna. In fact, I think you should do it sooner.” He said suddenly, Ok, I wasn’t expecting that. ”When the time is right.” I added icily. ”I think we know Mom better than you do.” ”Raihana.” Dad reprimanded me gently.

I crossed my arms and looked away. ”I don’t mean it in a bad way, I’m just saying you’re her daughter… If she realises that witches aren’t…” He seemed to change his mind and simply shook his head.

”That’s on you, I still don’t get my part in this.” Even I don’t… but I swear he’s just a blond, brainless buffoon.” Maria and I are going to be going to The Ahmar Qamar pack to help with the wedding festivities of her nephew. Beta Jack will handle the pack here, but I wanted to appoint you as Raihana’s personal bodyguard for the duration of this trip. I understand that you are Delta, and this is beneath you, but as a favour…

I don’t want something happening whilst I’m not around. ”So, Dad wanted someone who knew the truth about me to keep an eye on me? But seriously, Chris?” Dad, isn’t Blake enough?” I asked, not missing Chris rolling his eyes. I knew him and Blake never got on… But that annoyed me. I liked Blake. He was everything you could wish for. In fact, this could have given me and Blake alone time But now….

I glared coldly at Chris who just gave me an annoying questioning smirk back. ”Blake is a strong warrior, but I trust Chris. If Rayhan hadn’t decided to go on this trip, it wouldn’t have been necessary. I can’t ask Lola as Jack’s teaching her the last bits she needs to know before she takes over as Beta, once Rayhan becomes Alpha.” Dad said, giving me a gentle smile.

I rolled my eyes. You could never say no to Dad when he had that gentle look in his eyes. ”Fine, but Dad, in these times of peace, I don’t get why you’re even stressed out.” I said, standing up. ”It’s good to be safe,

” Dad said as I shook my head and walked towards the door. ”Can I go now? Seriously Dad, I don’t think this was even needed.” ”Raihana, you leave pack grounds often, for university, shopping and whatever else girls your age do.

So I need Chris there with you. At least I’ll feel at ease.” I sighed. I didn’t expect Dad to get like this, but it was clear he wouldn’t listen. I wish I had asked him first why he wanted to share with Chris; he had only said he had his reasons…. I should have gotten those reasons out of him and talked him out of it, but I hadn’t and now I was stuck with the banana… I looked at the blond.

If it wasn’t for his annoying attitude, one could say he was quite handsome, but let’s not forget, he had probably slept with all the single women in this pack… Well fu*ck. I turned and walked out slamming the door behind me. CHRIS Well, looks like someone is pissed off… ”Is there more to it? I mean, I don’t mind watching her. ”I sure didn’t mind watching her.

” But our pack has a lot of security… For you to want me in on this, what’s going on?” ”In the last month, three witches have been killed and news has spread that the witches are getting angry. Last night, four werewolves were found dead.

They had been killed by magic. The tides are changing, son… and I fear it won’t end well.” ”What about the Queen? Has she said anything?” I asked. He stood up and walked to the window, his arms behind his back.

I knew Kiara Westwood was known for making a few predictions. ”No… But the darkness is coming once more. The coven is growing, and more witches are entering the lands. They are building an army.” ”Then we need witches on our side.

” I stated. He looked at me, and I could see the conflict. ”Raihana?” ”She is a Rossi, tell me which member of your family is not impressive? If worst comes to worst, we will need all the help we can get in any form. You need to train…” I knew who could train her. Delsanra: My heart thudded in realisation, and I knew what we needed to do.

”Let’s see what happens. Maybe we are just being paranoid.” Alpha Rafael said. I nodded. ”Alpha you need to tell Rayhan about Raihana.” I said quietly. ”I will when he gets home. Thank you, Chris, for your time. Please don’t mention this to anyone.

”His words were gentle, yet the dismissal in them was obvious. This conversation was over.

”I won’t, Alpha. Even if I wasn’t under your Alpha command, I wouldn’t tell anyone without your permission.” Thank you. I just needed him to tell Rayhan… I didn’t believe in destiny, but this shit was more than a coincidence…. Delsanra and Raihana, two of the most important members of this pack. Surely this was a sign that the Goddess Hecate was also on our side?
