"Alright then, you're crashing at my place tonight."

...

When they pulled up to the Woods' house, Fiona was as chill as could be, acting like she owned the joint.

Even though she tagged along with Jackson, she wasn't planning on anything serious happening. Sure, she was a sucker for a handsome face and had been eyeing Jackson for ages, but she never jumped into anything without a game plan. She wanted him to be the one who couldn't resist making the first move — that would be way more entertaining.

As soon as they got home, Jackson seemed ready to vanish upstairs, like he had a mountain of work waiting for him.

Fiona bit her lip, puzzled by his cool demeanor.

She'd practically thrown herself at him, and he was acting like he couldn't care less?

That thought made her second-guess herself.

Was she not as charming as she thought? Or was it... something else about him?

"What's on your mind? You seem a million miles away," Jackson teased, giving her a playful tap on the head, his voice rich with amusement.

Fiona beamed at him, moving in a little closer, tugging on his sleeve like a child seeking attention.

"Where am I crashing tonight?" she asked, her voice sweet and teasing, like a kitten's purr, making Jackson's heart do a little flip.

He kept his cool, chuckling, "Where do you wanna sleep? My room, perhaps?"

Instead of freaking out, Fiona leaned in even closer, their breaths mingling. She could catch a whiff of his woody cologne, which was pretty intoxicating. "Since you don't mind, I'll go with your suggestion," she replied smoothly.

Jackson's eyes darkened, something stirring behind them as he swallowed hard, forcing down the unexpected emotions bubbling up.

He kept reminding himself: She's just a young girl, don't be a beast!

Loosening his tie and popping open a few buttons, he waited for her to continue, a smile playing on his lips.

Fiona's lips, cherry red and tempting, made him recall her dancing at the bar in that skimpy top. A twinge of jealousy hit him unexpectedly. "Aren't you scared of me?" he asked, curiosity piqued.

"What's there to fear? What could you possibly do to me?" she quipped, her playful 'brother' tightening something in his chest. He slid a hand into his pocket, chuckling softly. en FindNovel

"Go to bed already."

Fiona nearly burst out laughing.

Looks like he really was a stand-up guy.

But she wasn't done having her fun. "I don't have anything to sleep in. Mind if I borrow something of yours?"

Jackson, worn down by her cheekiness, couldn't even meet her gaze, afraid he might just give in to temptation. Instead, he handed her one of his shirts.

"This is all I've got."

Seeing the white shirt hanging from his long fingers, Fiona grinned mischievously.

So, this was like a little role-play, huh?

After a quick shower, she slipped into the shirt and knocked on Jackson's door.

He opened the door in no time, still in his shirt from earlier, with rimless glasses perched on his nose. looked effortlessly sexy and laid-back.

Fiona, with her petite frame and fair skin, looked adorably swamped in his oversized shirt, adding a touch of innocence mixed with allure.

She'd even rolled the sleeves up, showing off her delicate wrists.

Jackson's gaze drifted to the small bone jutting out on her wrist, his eyes growing darker, his voice dropping to a husky murmur.

"Can't sleep?"
