Chapter 997 Will There Be Her?

In an instant, everyone's expressions changed. This was the last answer they wanted.

The leader kicked him to the ground. "You killed her? Where did you kill her? Where is the primary crime scene?"

"She was killed in the poppy field, strangled alive. That woman didn't obey and even trampled on many flowers." The man showed no remorse or fear but rather had a gleam in his eyes as he recounted these details.

The captivating gaze, even if witnessed numerous times, still sent a chilling sensation down one's spine.

A group of ruthless beasts had long lost their humanity.

"Where's the corpse?"

"It has been disposed of."

"Where was it disposed of?"

"It's easy for us to dispose of the body. We definitely couldn't let you find it. We already chopped it up and ate it."

In the car, Huston listened to their conversation. His expression was so ugly that even the leader next to him began to worry if he would smash the car in the next second.

However, what he was worried about did not happen. Huston just calmly spread out his clenched fists. "Where's the gun?"

Gun...

The leader immediately touched his waist and held it tightly. "Don't worry, Mr. Lloyd. We can't conclude now..."

"Give it to me." Huston's voice seemed to come out of his teeth.

"I can't... Hey!"

Before he could finish his sentence, Huston seized the opportunity and forcefully yanked his arm. The small black pistol was drawn from him, and Huston shook it. His eyes were filled with a chilling resolve, and an aura of destruction surrounded him. He was no longer the meticulous lawyer he used to be; he seemed like a different person. "I'll return it to you after I'm done with it."

Seeing Huston about to get off the car, the leader knew that his departure would undoubtedly lead to irreparable consequences. Without hesitation, he grabbed hold of his clothes and said, "You can't go!" With Evelyn's life hanging in the balance, Huston was on the verge of a breakdown. Days of suppressed emotions, worries, and anxieties all came crashing down upon hearing the word "killed." There was nothing he couldn't do; it was only a matter of his willingness. If something truly happened to Evelyn, he was uncertain of what he would be capable of doing.

He unceremoniously pushed the leader's hand away and said angrily, "Get lost!"

The leader's arm hit the car roof, causing pain, but there was no time to recover. He immediately lunged at Huston, grabbing the back of his shirt collar. "Stay calm. We must stay calm. In times like this, we absolutely cannot act recklessly!"

Huston couldn't listen at all. His hand holding the gun started to tremble, and the veins on his neck stood out, resembling two scars stretching across his body. It sent shivers down people's spines. Just as he was about to raise the gun's handle, an excited voice came through the listener.

"Captain, we found a videotape in the room, but it was added with a code. We have to go back to the bureau to crack it."

The sentence was like a pardon, and the leader nodded in a hurry. "Did you hear that? There's also a video recording. If she died, how could there be a videotape left behind? She must be fine. Trust me..." Huston hesitated for a moment, looking at the cold and solid handgun in his hand. Then, he glanced at the illuminated mansion not far away. It was pitch black just a moment ago, but now it was brightly lit. Unfortunately, the woman who should have been rescued was nowhere to be found.

Would her whereabouts be revealed in the videotape?

Huston's entire body was stiff as if he had been petrified. Just by looking at his back, one could feel the immense pressure that he was enduring.
