Chapter 1023 Prepare for the Worst

Almost at that moment, she jumped into the water, and Hawk followed. But he just lowered his body, with his upper body leaning on the strong arms above the secret passage. He took out the short and exquisite silencer pistol from behind his waist and shot at the window in front of him twice.

Evelyn couldn't see anything. The rain was too heavy, the river was rising, and the waves were getting bigger. She was pushed down and was not prepared at all. She drank a few mouthfuls of water to stabilize herself.

Hawk sealed the secret passage and then took her swimming downstream along the water.

The huge impact pushed her forward. In the huge rain curtain, she could hardly see the river in front of her. She could only be passively led by Hawk.

She tried to call for help, but as soon as she opened her mouth, the river water filled her mouth, causing her to choke and hurt.

After an unknown period, she was about to be frozen by the cold river. When she was in a daze, Hawk finally used his strength to take her to the shore against the current.

Not long after, the two of them climbed ashore. Before she could catch her breath, her clothes were suddenly lifted. The next second, there was a square black box on her waist. Evelyn frowned and subconsciously reached out to pull it. Before she could touch it, she heard the man's ruthless warning. "It's a time bomb. Don't move if you don't want to die."

"..." Evelyn's movements suddenly froze. When her eyes fell on the little thing again, her forehead was covered with cold sweat.

"If you run away without permission or make a sound I don't want to hear; I will detonate it immediately." Hawk's voice was extremely calm as if detonating a bomb was as simple as detonating a balloon. At this point, the bomb was tied to her body, and Evelyn calmed down unexpectedly. She narrowed her eyes and watched him load the guns and magazines buried under the tree. "If you detonate it, none of us will survive."

"Is there any difference between being arrested by the police and dying for me?" Hawk chuckled. He had prepared for the worst.

The raindrops fell on her body, making crackling sounds. Evelyn looked down at the man squatting on the ground and said, "So, the police are here."

Hawk paused and then realized that she was just trying to get information out of him.

He laughed, and his voice disappeared in the rain. He didn't know whether to praise her for being smart or cunning. He got up and walked up to her. "That's right. You'd better pray that you can survive tonight." After that, he went straightforward. Evelyn held the corner of the bomb tightly and followed him closely.

The rain was so heavy that even though she tried her best to step on the ground, she was washed away by the rain before she could go far. She knew that it was Huston who had come to save her. After more than ten days, he had finally come to her side despite all the difficulties.

When Evelyn thought of him in a corner of the deep forest, her heart couldn't help beating wildly.

This was the only moment she felt that there was still hope in life for so many days.

In front of her, Hawk's back was so clear. She wanted to resist this man countless times, but he was armed and she was unarmed.

If she went up, she would only be courting death.

She couldn't die. To save her, he had made so many preparations. At this critical moment, she couldn't let her guard down.

No one knew what would happen in the next second. The only thing she could do was to protect herself.
