Chapter 1005 Never Attack a Child

Mark watched as Hawk walked out of the room with an angry look on his face. He glanced into the room and saw the woman lying flat on the bed. He could not see anything unusual.

He quickly followed the man. Hawk took a long hunting gun from the wall and went straight out of the wooden house. Mark quickly followed.

Seeing the grim expression on his face, none of his subordinates dared to step forward to provoke him. He walked into the deep forest and his ears twitched. Suddenly, he stopped moving. Almost at the same time, he placed the shotgun on his shoulder, opened the barrel, and pressed it down. After a slight sound, the green snake that was originally hanging on the tree behind him rolled down.

The snake was shot in the abdomen, but its nerves were still reacting. Its body, which was more than one meter long, was still twisting.

The snake's body was green, and it was slowly seeping out highly poisonous venom. Mark felt his scalp go numb.

Hawk continued to move forward. Along the way, the gun in his hand did not stop. Any movement around him, big or small, would be shot dead by him.

The muzzle was filled with anger. Everyone knew how dangerous it was. Mark merely followed along and did not dare to rashly step forward. Finally, he stopped under a thick tree. The man picked up a stone and threw it up. After the stone fell, he casually found a place to sit down. Mark knew that he had vented all his anger.

He walked up to him and sat down beside him. He heard the man's cold voice, "Mark, how many people have we killed over these years?" He had never asked this question before, because even if he did, no one would be able to give him a specific number.

How many had he killed?

Who would deliberately count? They only knew that all the people who blocked their way must die.

They didn't discuss it in the slightest, nor did they show any mercy.

Before Mark could say anything, the man continued, "Countless. I can't even remember myself, let alone you. But none of these people is a child." Mark nodded. That was true.

For so many years, no matter what happened, Hawk had never dealt with a child. Five years ago, a child was wrapped in bombs. After being discovered, he still let him go. This was a tacit understanding between him and his subordinates. He would never hurt the child.

Hawk had once said that it was not because his conscience was still there, nor was it anything worthy of praise. He just couldn't bear to do it. He didn't want to hurt those children.

"When I was a child, I came here from Eoland and narrowly escaped death. I've done all kinds of things, from stealing things to killing and arson. But do you know that I'm still envious of those carefree children who eat ice cream and ride motorcycles?" Speaking of this, the look in the man's eyes became a little distant. He seemed to be recalling a certain picture, a very far scene from him, but then he lowered his head. "It's ridiculous. People like me who love killing also have this idea."

Mark had never heard him say such a thing. He was a very decisive person, and his decisiveness gave people the impression that he was cold-blooded and ruthless. As time went by, everyone was afraid of him. However, he was suspicious and did not get close to anyone. He was the only one he could trust.

Even he felt that this man would not be soft-hearted for anything. It was also because of this that when he heard his words, he was a little surprised and... sad.

There seemed to be something hidden beneath this apathetic body.

"Is it because of that woman?" Mark asked after pondering for a long time.

Hawk smiled briefly. "She always knows how to irritate me."

The shotgun was quietly placed in front of his feet. Mark looked at it carefully and said, "When the gun is not fired, it looks exquisite and beautiful, but once the bullet is loaded, no one thinks it's beautiful. It's a threat."
