Chapter 648 Money Will Always Come First

She refused to believe that Tobias would go so far just to protect that memory of hers.

Skylar had never intended to affect Tobias' decision on demolishing the houses in Harbourside, and yet everyone seemed to be placing that pressure on her.

Tobias is a businessman, so money will always come first. He's not the kind of guy who would waste tons of money just to impress a woman!

Miranda then hurled another sarcastic remark at Madelyn before storming off, causing her face to turn red with anger.

How are these two so different despite being mother and daughter? Skylar may be a little on the colder side, but at least she's polite toward others! She would never say such nasty things like that mother of hers! Honestly, her mother doesn't even look like a friendly person, to begin with, so her horrible attitude just makes her even worse!

Fearing that Madelyn would complain and demand for a raise if she consoled her, Skylar simply kept quiet.

She actually felt the urge to book a last-minute plane ticket for Salinsburgh after Miranda had left. A quick glance at the flight schedules for the day revealed that she could still make it if she bought the ticket immediately.

However, she exited the application upon reaching the payment page.

If I show up at the airport now, the paparazzi are bound to reveal my relationship with Tobias! Going there would only cause him more problems...

After taking a moment to reconsider her options, Skylar decided to give Tobias a call instead. The call only got through after a few rings, but it wasn't Tobias' voice that came on the other line.

Thinking she might have called the wrong number, Skylar held the phone away from her face and checked the number. Huh, that's odd... This is definitely Tobias' number, so why-

Her train of thoughts was interrupted when the person spoke up again. "Mr. Ford is currently in a meeting and doesn't have his phone with him. Would you like to leave him a message instead?" He sounded like a humble and polite young man, and he didn't seem to be aware of her identity at all.

"It's nothing. Just tell him to call me back when he's free," Skylar replied.

The man said he would relay the message, and Skylar hung up the phone after that. Holding a travel guide for Beskary in hand, she slumped against the couch while waiting for her visa application to be approved.

It won't be long before I leave for Beskary. I wonder if Tobias will come home before my flight...

Skylar headed over to the office and bumped into Sheldon at the elevator. He had yet another young girl by his side.

Neither of them entered the elevator after its doors opened. Skylar recognized the girl as the one that was in the photo with Tobias at the bar.

The girl seemed rather young and looked more appropriately dressed for the winter this time.

Instead of denim shorts and fishnet stockings, she was wearing a figure-hugging white dress, skin-colored stockings, and a pair of beige sheepskin boots. She even had a wild look in her eyes, which gave her a feisty look.

"This is my friend, Judy!" Sheldon introduced her.

Judy's gaze had been fixated on Skylar the whole time.

She has pretty eyes, fair skin, and an air of elegance which makes her naturally charming... I've always assumed that celebrities mostly rely on beauty filters to look good, so I thought she'd look average off camera. Now that I have seen Skylar in person, I finally understand why Tobias refused to join me that night. Well, whatever... Men aren't the only ones with the ability to seduce people. Women too, can seduce men like Tobias and sleep with him. Still, a man like Tobias is way more than I can handle, so I probably shouldn't push my luck with him...
