Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert) -
Chapter 91
Her voice rose a notch. "I'm going to intern at Eloise's studio, too."
Sylvia blinked, taken aback.
But Julia shot up, anger lacing her tone. "Why? Sylvia and Bridget got in through a contest. How come you get in just like that?" Freya shrank back, looking like a scared little thing, fiddling with the hem of her skirt.
"I... I just happened to get the chance. I thought I'd give it a try, and to my surprise, I got in. Sylvia, please don't be mad, okay?" Freya's tears were like delicate flowers in a storm.
Helena glared at her. "Freya, stop it! Didn't you hear what the doctor said? Sylvia's not supposed to get upset. You bringing this up now is just making it worse." Freya sobbed. "I really just got lucky, so I didn't have to work as hard as Sylvia. Once Sylvia gets better, we can work together. Wouldn't that be great?" Lucky? Not having to work as hard? Waiting for Sylvia to get better?
Every word was a sting to Sylvia.
Julia's fists clenched tight.
Yet, Sylvia laughed. "Freya, congratulations! That's great news. I guess I'll have to be more proactive with my treatment so we can work together sooner."
Freya's smile twitched, unable to fully form, her face a mask of discomfort.
Sylvia continued with a smile. "Freya, why so quiet? Am I wrong?"
"Right, absolutely. Just focus on getting better. I need to use the restroom." Freya turned and darted out of the room, clutching her phone tightly, probably off to share the news.
After Freya left, Julia couldn't hide her frustration. "Freya gets into Eloise's studio too? That's just not fair."
Helena tugged at the sheets, venting, "Her grades are even worse than mine. What does Eloise see in her?"
"Don't worry, the studio isn't just looking for designers. If she was going to be a designer, she would have said so."
Sylvia was surprisingly calm. Knowing Freya for two lifetimes, she understood her all too well.
Returning to the moment, Sylvia continued her breakfast, occasionally expressing her appreciation. "You guys really know me too well, bringing all my favorites. I feel like I'm already half healed."
"Actually, we brought breakfast, but not this. We barely talk, so how could we possibly know what you
like scratched her head,
embarrassed.
"Then this isn't from you?"
าวน
"It is, but when we were leaving campus this morning, a sharply dressed man approached us. He handed us a note filled with food orders, even specifying how burnt you like your toast. The note even had cash wrapped inside. He said it was for you, then left in a tuxury car."
Helena roughly described the man's appearance and height.
Sylvia, surprised, paused her eating and tried to picture the man based on Helena's.description. The person who knew so many of her
preferences must have had many breakfasts with her in the past. That could only have been someone from the Garcia family.
First, she ruled out the least likely candidate: Rupert. Rupert knew nothing about her preferences. That left...Warren!
She remembered that Warren had been called away by Fiona.
Could it be that he was worried Fiona would find out, so he asked a roommate instead?
Sylvia was genuinely moved.
Julia, full of curiosity, leaned in closer. "Who was that man?"
Sylvia simply pushed her away. "Mind your own business."
The others stared at Sylvia's hand in shock.
"Sylvia, you..."
"Shh."
Sylvia winked and placed her finger over her lips.
