Chloe hadn't expected Pax and Eve's wedding plans to move along so quickly. Still, she clung to a flicker of hope. Right now, Claire and the Nagel family were caught in a whirlwind. The media was buzzing with stories about how the Nagel family had swiped the DreamMaker System from Sartori Corporation. Claire's backstabbing move to climb the corporate ladder had also made headlines. She'd gone from a respected businesswoman to a ruthless figure, willing to tear her family apart for money and power. Of course, some media outlets had different takes, saying that these kinds of power struggles in wealthy families were nothing new. Folks could only shake their heads at how heartless the elite could be. Despite the chatter, Claire's private company, Eldridge Entertainment, couldn't avoid a nosedive. Claire had cut ties with Sartori Corporation, transferring her shares and leaving her with just Eldridge Entertainment. Meanwhile, Nagel Corporation and all its associated companies saw their stocks plummet, causing shareholders to panic and sell off their shares in a frenzy.

This was a massive financial crisis for the Sartori family, unlike anything they'd faced before. On the flip side, Sartori Corporation and its subsidiary, Dream Maker Inc, were experiencing a stock surge. Chloe had figured that, given the mess Claire and the Nagel family were in, Eve and Pax's engagement would be called off or at least delayed. But nope, the engagement party went on as planned. Invitations had gone out ages ago, and the party was set at the Sartori family's old mansion.

That night, the place was all lit up and buzzing with excitement. Jeffery usually stayed out of his kids' marriage matters, but Marian had her doubts about this one. Pax was her favorite grandson, after all. But since Pax was on board, she kept her distance. She'd learned her lesson after opposing Claire's marriage to Paul, which had led to a whole heap of trouble. Thinking about it still tore her up with regret.

Guests poured in that night, with all the big names of Eldridge City in attendance. The venue was a sprawling courtyard, decked out like something from a royal wedding of yesteryear, complete with fake mountains, bamboo groves, pavilions, and babbling streams. The whole scene was just gorgeous.

Chloe entered, arm in arm with Connor, wearing a stunning gold dress and a white fur shawl, her hair elegantly styled. She looked the picture of a regal matriarch, yet her natural beauty shone through, turning heads wherever she went. As they strolled around, Chloe didn't spot Eve and Pax, the stars of the show. Instead, she saw Claire and Kent, chatting and laughing with the guests.

Standing under a porch, Chloe mused, "I thought after everything that happened, Kent would split from your sister. But here he is, not holding the Nagel family's troubles against her and even marrying Eve to Pax. Their bond must be pretty genuine."

With a touch of regret, Chloe added, "It's a shame we didn't take this chance to cut Claire down to size." Connor's eyes fixed on Claire. "Kent has been devoted to my sister forever. A crisis like this isn't enough to tear them apart. But mark my words, I'll deal with the Nagel family eventually."
