Hearing the names Pax and Eve, Connor's eyes darkened a bit. "I'll head in right now," he said, just as the butler took his leave. Chloe was caught off guard too. "Wasn't Eve supposed to be overseas?" she asked, puzzled.

It hadn't been long since Eve had sent a provocative message to Diana, leading to a car accident that cost Diana her leg. The whole Gilbert family was in an uproar, almost demanding Eve to pay with a leg of her own. Connor had been the one to smooth things over back then.

Chloe and Connor made their way into the main house. Claire and Kent were relaxing in the living room, sipping tea. Hearing footsteps, Claire looked up at the pair. "Back already? Kent came by today to propose a marriage between Pax and Eve. As Pax's uncle, what do you think?"

Connor replied steadily, "Does Pax agree to this?" Claire nodded, "It's a major decision for him, of course we talked it over. He's on board."

Chloe was taken aback. How could Pax be okay with this? She asked, "And what about Eve? Is she on board too?" Chloe knew Eve had always had a thing for Connor. How could she agree to marry Pax?

Kent cut a glance at Chloe, his tone sharp, "I'll handle my daughter's marriage. No need for Ms. Chloe to worry. In marriage, it's the parents' call. Outsiders should keep their opinions to themselves."

Kent clearly wasn't fond of Chloe. In his eyes, Connor was the perfect match for Eve. Aligning with Claire's side, he believed that Eve marrying Connor would keep the Nagel family strong, no matter who led the Sartori family. But Chloe's presence had forced a shift in alliances. Not to mention, she played a big role in the Nagel-Gilbert family feud.

Connor, noticing Kent's tone towards Chloe, responded coolly, "If Eve marries into the Sartori family, my wife will be her aunt. It's only natural for an elder to show concern, don't you think?"

Kent wasn't expecting Connor to

defend Chloe and looked visibly upset. Connor casually took Chloe's hand, "If they both agree, I've got no issue With that, he led Chloe, upstairs, showing no interest in the discussion.

Claire and Kent didn't look too pleased. Claire had hoped Connor would fight for Pax, pushing Kent to a breaking point. Meanwhile, Kent couldn't believe his daughter had pined for someone so indifferent for years.

Once they were in their room, Chloe turned to Connor, "Pax agreeing to this? No way. What's really going on?"

Connor frowned, "I'll have a chat with

him." Without wasting time, he called Pax surprised to find out Pax was home. This was Marian and Jeffrey's main house, not their personal space, but everyone had

their rooms here.

Pax's room was just a few doors down from Connor's. Chloe said, "Go on, I'll wait here for you." Connor nodded, "Stay put. We'll head out once I'm back." Connor then left to see Pax, finding him on his balcony, watering plants. Pax looked different now, his once blonde hair now jet black.
