Death Wolf Saga -
Death Wolf Chapter 71 (Book 2)
Alexandria’s pov
Fetch water
The voice guides me along as I am almost able to make Dad stable.
If it wasn’t for this voice in my head, I don’t know what would have happened.
Who are you? How can I hear you?
I ask . Hoping for an answer. To only hear an irritated g***n.
You will know. Very soon.
Fine! I don’t know what’s the need for the suspense. Ignoring it, I pick up an empty bucket.
I think there should be a stream or a river nearby. I can hear the sound of water from here.
Looking at him all bandaged, I sigh. To look outside at the forest surrounding us.
I guess I have no choice.
.
.
.
I have been following the voice and surprisingly, I found myself very close to a stream.
I was busy filling the bucket with water when I hear footsteps and I go still.
Holding my breath I try to concentrate in the eerie silence.
What’s it?
I ask in my mind. Hoping for that voice to answer but it doesn’t.
Well I guess I am on my own now.
I try to ignore it. Continuing with filling the water. When I hear that voice again.
And I look up almost immediately.
My hand drops from the bucket as I see a beautiful deer in front of me. Looking straight into my eyes.
And all my anxiety vanishes, to be replaced with admiration.
I haven’t seen something so beautiful before.
It’s antelopes huge, and those dark eyes entrancing.
Instead of being afraid from me. I found it stepping closer to me. As if asking me for something.
Those eyes, they wanted to talk to me.
And that’s when I notice it clearly. It was limping. It was hurt.
And I don’t know why? But I wanted to help it.
“Hey. I won’t hurt you. Come…”
I speak softly. Mesmerised by it’s beautiful. Moving back a little to show, I meant no harm.
As if it was understanding me. It steps closer to the stream. To take it’s eyes off from me and drink from the stream water.
I looked at it’s injury closely , to find it’s hind leg badly injures.
It had some dried b***d on it , but was still bleeding.
An infection was starting.
I need to do something.
I think I have some herbs paste left in the hut. The one Dad used on my injuries.
I could use it.
“Stay put okay? I will be right back.”
It cranes it’s neck to look at me. To resume it’s drinking. And I hurry up, going to the hut. Struggling with the bucket of water.
Looking at Dad peacefully sleeping, I pick up the paste and wrap it in a paper. Hurrying back.
It was still there ,as if waiting for me.
And a smile comes on my lips.
Rushing towards it, I extend forward my palm. Hoping for it to trust me. But it just stares, into my eyes.
“I won’t hurt you. Come on.”
I close my eyes. My palms waiting and I peek to only see it moving closer. Placing it’s snout closer to my hand.
A little more.
Come on.
My hand was just inches away from touching it, when a loud roar is heard in the background.
And the deer moves back immediately, frightened.
“Hey! Don’t be afraid. It’s nothing-“
But I could see the hostility in it’s eyes as it moves back from me.
Sh**!
I see it running further away from me and my heart drops. No! It will die of the infection! I have to save it!
Not caring about anything. I run after it. Trying to catch up.
It was going further and further into the dense forest, but I didn’t seemed to care.
I was never a daredevil, but few times when it comes to those whom I love. Or the innocent ones, I just can’t stop myself.
They give me my strength I guess.
Following the deer for I don’t know how long. I finally see it slowing down. And I take in deep breaths.
Crouching.
“I won’t hurt you. I promise.”
I say again. To find it looking back at me by craning ity neck.
Thank god! It stopped atleast.
Smiling at it. I move closer to suddenly feel strange. Each and every cell in my body seemed to be in red alert.
And the aura of this place felt very weird and different.
Strange.
Ignoring it, I take out the medicine from my pocket. And open it. Looking up.
And that very instant.
My heart stops beating and I forget to breathe.
No! It can’t be!
The deer I so wanted to help. Those beautiful entrancing eyes ,were suddenly b***d red and the medicine drops from my hand.
As I stagger back.
And that’s when I see, the reason of why it stopped. Behind it, stood the very place I see my dreams .
The infamous mysterious tree of death.
I gulp. Trying to calm my mind.
But nothing seemed to be working right now.
The eerie silence surrounding me, seeming dangerous and deadly. Turning around I try to find an escape route back to the cottage.
But everything was blank in my mind.
From which direction did I came?
How far am I?
Sh**! I was so lost in following this deer that I didn’t see anything else.
But isn’t this what we wanted Alexandria?
I ask myself. Looking at the humongous tree in front of me.
To find the mysterious tree and then find mom?
She needs you Alexandria.
She is here somewhere.
She will save you.
Clenching my fist with new found determination. I step closer. Not afraid of the deer looking at me with b***d red eyes.
You can do it Alexandria. Come on.
“Where is my mom? Give her back to me!”
Silence. Nothing. The deer continues to stare.
“See…death wolf or whosoever you are! I am not afraid of you! Give me back my mother!”
Silence nothing. Except for the dark aura around me feeling more scary and suffocating.
“You…destroyed everything! My mother…you took her away from me! What do you even want from her! Please…
“Give her back! “
I scream this time. Frustrated. With tears streaming down my eyes. To suddenly hear a voice that sent chills down my spine.
“Alexandria my daughter?”
Her sweet voice was like heaven to my ears and I look up instantly. To see her figure in the bark of the mysterious tree.
The deer standing beside her.
“Mom?”
I couldn’t believe my eyes. She was here, finally! In front of me.
Tears of happiness slide down my eyes. As I get up on my shaky knees. Looking at her through my hazy vision.
“It’s you momma! It’s you!”
She gently smiles. Blinking her beautiful brown eyes in acknowledgement. Her face flawless and a beautiful white dress adoring her figure.
“You found me my daughter.”
She says and for me, this was the best day of my life. I wanted nothing more in my life now.
She was my everything.
“I had to momma. You called me. I love you so much momma. I missed you.”
“Momma misses you too my daughter.”
“Now come. Won’t you hug your mother?”
She asks, extending open her palm for me to take. And I nod with a broad smile on my lips
Moving closer towards the tree, I stretch my own hand.
Moving it closer, to touch her outstretched one. When the usual voice speaks in my head.
“Don’t. It’s a trap.”
My hand stills. The very second. What does the voice mean. What kind of trap? It was my mother here.
“Come my daughter. What happened? Momma has waited for you for centuries. Don’t you love me.”
“No Momma! I love you…I love you so much. But it’s just-“
“Wait. Centuries? But the Wolf’s soul only took you 18 years back momma?”
I ask in confusion.
“Here 18 years felt like centuries dear. Just come now! My patience is running out. I mean I am getting really impatient to hold you in my embrace.”
This is strange. Why did her tone change so suddenly.
Should I listen to the voice in my head?
My hand, starts retreating. And I see the impatience on her face.
“Just come here! Darling…”
And that’s when I see her eyes flickering. From those beautiful brown to white…pure white..and I stagger back. To fall.
“No! You .. you are not my mother!”
As soon as I say it, the dark clouds envelope around me. And literally start choking me. The face of my mother, starts smirking evilly.
And I struggle to breathe.
“Fuc* this acting. Just come to me little dove.”
The voice changes to a heavy male voice and my eyes widen. I feel a strong invisible grip on my ankle and I found myself being pulled in to the darkness of the tree.
“No! Leave me! You are not her! Leave me!”
The voice snickers again and a shiver runs down my spine.
“That’s right. I am not her because she is dead.”
“And I? I killed her!”
My eyes widen in disbelief. And I scream as I find myself being pulled back from my ankle. My nails dig into the mud … trying to find something to only stop myself by holding a tree root extending out.
But my strength was washing away. The thing pulling me was too strong.
I couldn’t win this.
This was my end.
It seems.
Seeing my mother’s face, I finally surrender to it. If death is where I will find, let it be then.
Closing my eyes…with tears streaming down. I finally let go of the tree root.
Submitting to this inhuman power of this mysterious wolf.
When suddenly,I find another grip on my wrist. Which stopped me from being pulled back.
I open my eyes in shock.
To only see those green eyes, I thought I had left behind.
“Si…las?”
I say in disbelief. To only have his grip tighten on my wrist instead.
“You thought you could escape me so easily, little one?”
