Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 99
AMERY
.
"I feel full." I burped when I couldn't take anything in. Levi had cooked enough as though he wanted to serve a thousand people and I still don't understand how they manage to stuff themselves when I could barely eat anything more at this point. I had gone way past my limit and eating more would only mean t*****e.
"You're such an annoying and lazy eater." Quincy mocked, twirling his spoon around his fingers while Levi remained speechless.
"At least I'm better at something than you are." I sneered at him and proceeded to place my cutlery on the table as I pushed myself and my chair a bit backwards.
The table went silent with the both of them focused on their meal. I really didn't understand their brotherly relationship. One time they were all happy, jolly and talking to themselves and the other time, they were all quiet as if they were in mourning. I felt like the third wheel but I tried my best not to complain or act irrational so I just sat there quietly as I watched them eat.
"Damien visited today." Quincy started and Levi raised up his face to look at him from the other side of the table. Judging by Levi's piqued interest I could tell that this Damien was an important person and that this conversation would be serious. "What did he say?" Levi asked when Quincy didn't say anything more.
"He told me that the search for Asher is still in order and that they are trying everything they could to make sure that they find him and bring him back home." He relayed the message to Levi who just nodded his head. And that's when it hit me that they still haven't found Asher yet and that he was still missing.
"Anything else?"
Quincy shook his head. "Nothing other than the fact that Damian is worried. He told me that he wasn't sure if Asher was still in this realm because they weren't able to pick up his scent, track him or trace him down after he disappeared. Damien is scared that something bad must've happened to him but I don't want to believe it."
"He told me that he would have called for a summon howl if we were back home In our realm but he can't do that here because this isn't our home and our kind aren't necessarily friends with the humans or welcomed here."
I suddenly felt bad and a troubled feeling traveled through my gut and nestled on my stomach making all the food I just ate taste bitter in my tongue. I felt bad for Asher and I also felt Levi and Quincy's pain. It was obvious that they were both worried but they can't do anything because their hands were tied. Quincy was practically trying to hide his pain while Levi pretended as though he doesn't feel a thing but I know deep down that he does.
He cares for his brothers and shows a lot of affection when it came down to them. He had even gone as far as blaming and trying to kill me countless times because he believed that I had disrupted the peace between them. No one would go through those steps. No one would do that if they didn't care about someone so no matter how much he tries to hide or deny it, I could still see it.
"What's a summon howl?" I asked and they both looked at me weirdly. As if I was supposed to know all these references.
"It's a howl of warning or to call for help." Quincy lectured me. "Werewolves use it when they're in serious danger and requires assistance from others to help."
"And you can't do that here?" I asked. "Didn't you say that most of your people are here as well? Maybe they might help."
"They are helping but I doubt it'll be of much help. You can't compare the assistance of an entire pack to a group of small individuals. Their efforts and output would not be the same."
I bit down on my lips anxiously. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't help despite everything being my fault from the very beginning. "Can't you reach out to your pack for help?" I asked and Quincy burst out laughing while Levi looked on uninterested.
"You've met my father haven't you?" He asked and I nodded yes. "Does he strike you as someone who would like to help out in this case? He'd have our heads and hang it up in the gallows if he manages to get to us. We already broke one scared rule by coming here and to be honest, I'd rather die here than face his wrath." Quincy concluded and picked up the used dishes on the table.
Levi finished his meal and disappeared into the house leaving me alone with Quincy as I helped him do the dishes. "I'm sorry." I blurted out.
"For what?" He questioned, a bit shocked at my outburst.
"For everything." I breathed out. "I can't help but feel as if I just made everything worse. No matter...." I trailed off. "No matter how much I try to tell myself that it's not my fault, it ends up being the opposite. I feel like my presence in your lives keeps on causing a rift between the three of you and now..." I sniffed, tears blinding my vision as I found it difficult to see through my blurry eyes.
"Put it down." Quincy urged and took the plates from me before carefully placing it down on the sink. He held me by my shoulders so that I would be forced to look at him. "Listen to me Amery, you didn't cause anything and you're not the reason why Asher decided to run away. We're all victims here so don't ever try to blame yourself for anyone's mistake got it?"
I sniffed and gave a small nod.
"Whatever happens, we'd always have each other's backs so stop feeling miserable. Let's just say that Asher decided to go on a vacation and that he'll be back soon." He said and resumed washing again. "For all we know, this could be a prank cause knowing my brothers, they can always do the unthinkable."
"Thank you Quincy. I'm glad I got to talk to you today. I feel a lot better." I smiled through my tears.
We finished washing and I decided to hang out with Quincy in his bedroom to pa's time.
"So how are you holding up without School? Isn't it a bit tough and challenging to be alone by yourself all day while Levi comes to school?"
"Nope it's not." He answered sharply as I watched him sketch on his notepad. "I never liked that place. I only went there because I heard that it was filled with beautiful girls and also, I needed a place where I can be free and be a pain in my brothers' asses." "Some brother you are." I shook my head in feigned pity.
"You have no idea. Pass me the pencil please." He requested and I gave it to him. While he focused on his drawing, I stood up and walked around his bedroom. The last time I had been here, I really didn't take my time to appreciate the artwork because I was so busy trying to get mad at him. The drawings of me were very much on his wall and it made me feel like some kind of celebrity.
Just then, I spotted a closed Canvas right next to the mirror. Curious, I walked towards it and took off the cover to have a little peak.
"Wow." Was the first word that escaped my lips at the sketch on the board. I have never seen anything like this. "What is this?"
"s**t!" I heard Quincy cuss from behind me. He rushed towards me and quickly covered it up. "Why did you open it? It's not for seeing. At least not yet." He chided me.
"But it's pretty." I cooed. "Tell me, what is it? Who are you drawing this time around? It doesn't look like any of your artwork that I'm used to. It had a different vibe and I could feel it."
"That's because this piece is different from anything I have ever drawn before." He pushed me away from the closed canvas. "And this is why I don't want you in my room. You have a thing for snooping around."
"You can't blame me for being curious."
"I am and I will. Now stay away." He warned me sternly.
"At least tell me what it is. The more you keep saying stay away the more curious I'm becoming."
"I can't tell you until it's finished." He took a pause and then, "It's a secret Amery so keep your curiosity under control."
"Okay okay." I raised both hands in surrender. He gave me one last look before focusing on his other sketch.
"Can I make a suggestion?"
"Go on." He answered, barely looking at me.
"How about you take your art to the next level?" I suggested and he turned to look at me.
"I don't understand."
"Well since you're here and not going to school anymore, I figured that It would be better if you took part in some art competitions to get your work to a broader audience. Trust me, with a talent like this you'd make it big with lots of money and girls swooning over you." "And how do you propose I do that?"
"Don't worry. Leave it all to me." I said with a smile like he looked at me as if I had grown another pair of head.
