Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Chapter 155
"Amery, Amery," Quincy called out loud as they walked further into the woods.
The sun had set and darkness was almost upon them. It had been thirty minutes since they had been separated from Amery, and without being able to catch her scent, their search for her had so far been fruitless. "It's no use. I say we find somewhere to rest for the night and resume the search for her tomorrow morning," Asher suggested.
"Are you out of your mind? Something could have happened to her. We can't just stop searching for her," Levi stated.
"Stop acting like you care about her now. I'm just trying to be reasonable here. The rogues would be out anytime soon and we are of no use to Amery if we're dead," Asher reasoned.
He did have a point, but neither of them, not even him, would be able to sleep a wink that night if they gave up on searching for her.
"I understand you, but I'm just really worried. Why can't we catch her scent? She might be in danger for all we know." It was Quincy who spoke.
"f**k!" Asher groaned out in frustration. "This is all my fault. I never should have convinced her to meet her mother. If only I hadn't..."
Levi cut him off. "It's too late to stand here and cry over spilled milk. What's done is done. Let's just find her before it's too late. Remember what she did to us? She's slowly getting out of control, and with or without you, she would have needed to see her mother anyway to get a grasp of who she really is. Perhaps, she masked her scent with her newfound powers and she isn't in trouble after all, but if she is, we owe it to her to get her out of it," he said.
Quincy gave a small smile. "With what you've said, no one in their right mind can object to it. Now, let's get going," he said, and they resumed walking.
Asher rolled his eyes, not moved a bit by what Levi had said. Fine, he might have said something sensible, but to him, it was all hypocrisy. After all, he wasn't innocent in all that Amery had been experiencing. As a matter of fact, he was to blame for it all. Suddenly, they heard a loud voice which echoed through the impenetrable silence that had fallen upon them.
"Hello," the voice echoed, startling them, and they stopped right in their tracks.
They were about to ask each other if they had heard the same thing when the voice came again. It was shrill, raspy and familiar. "Is anyone out there?" That was the second thing they heard, and it seemed like a desperate cry for help.
"You guys heard that as well, right?" Quincy inquired.
Asher replied, "Yes. Do you think the voice belongs to..."
"Yes, it belongs to Amery, I am sure. I've heard her scream like that before," Levi responded before Asher could complete his question.
"What then are we waiting for? Let's move," Quincy yelled, then ran towards the direction of the voice which hadn't come from too far off. The other brothers contemplated first shifting into their wolf forms but decided it was too much of a hassle and ran along with Quincy, each overtaking the other at different points in time.
They stopped, panting heavily when they came to a wide pit in the middle of nowhere.
"As far as my hearing abilities go, this was the exact direction the voice had come from," Levi stated, peeking into the dark pit.
"Maybe she fell in there," Quincy said.
"Amery! Amery!" Asher called out loud.
"Shh," Levi quickly said, placing his index finger on Asher's lips.
Asher made a muffled sound, trying to bite off Levi's finger and get it off.
"Be quiet. We're not alone here," Levi said, with his eyes twitching from place to place, knowing people were around but not seeing the people.
It was quiet for a while before all of a sudden, a frightening voice came from behind them. "To what do I owe this pleasure?"
They jolted in shock and turned around to see the huge man whom Amery had seen earlier. Before they could say a word, he took advantage of their momentary weakness as caused by his sudden appearance and in one quick swoop, pushed them into the pit. The Alpha Princes fell backwards with a loud growl and crashed into the ground with a heavy thud, where their eyes, despite the darkness, saw rogues... not less than seven of them, and at the very end of the pit, they saw Amery standing there holding a skull which she had been using as a defence weapon against the wolves.
"Amery!" They screamed, relieved that they had finally found her, and for a moment, they forgot where they were and who their hosts were.
They stood up at once, with the smarting pain they had received from the fall now gone, thanks to the way their wolves healed fast. Ignoring the rogues who licked their lips, pleased that they had found for themselves bountiful meals to survive through the next few weeks, they all ran to Amery.
"Are you okay?" Quincy asked, checking her all over.
"What are you doing with that dirty thing?" Levi asked, knocking the skull off her hands.
"They didn't dare to hurt you, did they?" Asher inquired.
Tears of joy streamed down Amery's eyes. She hadn't intended to cry, and she didn't even know why she was crying. What she did know was that for the first time since she had gotten involved with the boys, she was indeed pleased to see all three of them. "I'm sorry for hurting you guys. I should have never left on my own. Thanks for coming to get me," Amery said, and like that, she spread her arms out wide and embraced all three of them at once.
Somehow, they didn't mind that she was sharing her affection with them. They all were just glad that she was okay.
"That's enough. Let's get out of here," Levi said, being the first to pull out of the embrace.
"Not too fast," the huge man's voice came calling, and once they all turned back, he switched into his rogue form; a black wolf with fiery red eyes and probably the biggest wolf Amery had ever seen, making her almost pass out in fright.
The wolves, now eight in number, approached their prey, howling loudly and dangerously. They reeked of anger, and they couldn't care less about preserving the lives of any of their prey. Being cursed to roam the surface of the earth without a Pack willing to take them in, all they knew was violence and with their claws getting longer and their fangs sprouting out even more, they divided themselves in twos and pounced on their prey.
"Amery, roll over to the side," Quincy yelled at her, ignoring the scratches that caused his face to bleed from the claws of his predators.
"I can't," she managed to yell back.
Levi shed off his skin, shifting to his wolf form, taking the two rogues that had attacked him by surprise and with his large fangs, he bit off the ear of one of them, then approached the rogues that had pounced on Amery. "Asher, help him," Quincy yelled at him.
"On it," Asher responded, shifted into his wolf form and wriggled his way out of their grasp, then helped push the rogues off Amery.
Quincy finally managed to inflict a lot of pain on the rogues that had attacked him, and then, he also shifted into his wolf form, then hurriedly made his way to protect Amery.
The rogues hadn't seen it coming... the fact that they would put up such a fight, but that angered them and they drew back slowly, making howling sounds while discussing what they must do to ensure the deaths of all four of their prey.
Amery was able to stand up during the ongoing discussion, and although she was pretty shaken, having survived death by a narrow escape once again, she wasn't scared. With one good look at the three brothers guarding and protecting her fiercely, she felt quite assured that nothing would go wrong that night.
They were on all fours, shielding her from any kind of danger that might come her way. Quincy was by her left side; Asher, by her right, while Levi was in front of her, and with the way she could hear them howling, she could tell they also had a plan.
The three brothers had their minds linked, and yes, they were discussing just like Amery had guessed, and soon, they reached a conclusion. They knew exactly how to get out of the godforsaken mess they had gotten themselves into without even spilling blood, but that would require them to do something they had never learned how to do: Work together.
Even as they reached that ultimate conclusion, their wolves shuddered, dreading the idea of even working together. That was more like a death sentence and they were bound to fail.
