Levi walked aimlessly around the premise of their campground. He couldn't bring himself to believe what Asher had just said to him and he couldn't bring himself to understand what all these emotions sizzling inside of him meant.

He wasn't angry at his brother but he somehow felt upset. He felt pain, hurt and so many underlying emotions that he couldn't explain.

At first, he had gone to his cabin with the intention of hitting him but he just couldn't. No matter how he tried to, he couldn't bring himself to do it. He hated himself for it.

He hated the fact that despite all his attempts to end this feud and rivalry between his brother's, nothing was going according to his plan. Instead, all he felt was guilt that tore up his insides to the point of no return.

The weather suddenly became heavy and humid, with a distinct change in the air as the clouds became thicker and more menacing-looking. The atmosphere felt tense, as if a storm was brewing.

Levi noticed a drop in temperature and a change in the wind direction as it became gusty and erratic but he wasn't alarmed. It was about to rain but he still stood there, unmoved as though the weight of the world was plopped down on his shoulders. As the rain began to fall, it started as a light drizzle and scattered drops before increasing in intensity.

Amery who has been waiting for Levi's return, stepped out of her cabin to find him standing outside, under the heavy downpour. Her first instinct was to scream out his name but she knew she wouldn't hear her through that storm. Without giving it much thought, she ran towards him and grabbed him by the arm. He slowly turned to face her but didn't say a single word.

Amery dragged him towards her cabin and shut the door behind him. She was fighting the urge to yell at him but then, she remembered what Asher had said to him and how badly it had affected him, so she refrained from doing so.

"Are you really that upset? That you were willing to stand under that rain?" Her voice came out a little harder than Intended. "What If something bad happens to you or worse? I was worried seeing you there Levi." She said but only deafening silence met her rants. Amery walked towards a closed drawer and pushed it open to reveal a stockpile of towels. She picked out one and stated drying out his hair slowly, working her way through the thick mass.

"I'm sorry about what Asher said." She apologized out of the blue. "I don't know anything about your mother but I assume it's a very sensitive topic and that's why you have never mentioned anything about it before."

He sighed deeply. "I don't say anything about it because there is nothing to say. She was bold to make decisions that most people would find difficult to make. She was the pillar of our home and she did everything to keep our family together." Amery noticed that this was probably the first time that Levi was saying anything about or concerning his mother. He had never opened that chapter of his life and had never mentioned anything about it.

She could remember vividly how his countenance had changed when Asher had hinted at him being a mommy's boy which meant that there was indeed something wrong because she couldn't believe that such words could trigger someone like Levi who had portrayed himself to be the man he was.

"What was she like? I mean your mom?" Amery proceeded to ask.

She has seen their father but not their mother. Amery was careful to take things slow and not rush him before she scares him off. He was like a little rabbit trying to leave his hole at this point and she would guide him, not scare him.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to Levi." She encouraged. "But I'll always be here if you want to say something about it."

She made an attempt to leave but he held her back and she willingly obliged.

"She was..." He trailed off as though he was trying to remember. Everything felt hazy and a bit blurry but he would never forget it. "Well, she was the nicest person to have ever walked this planet." He mused.

"She was kind, selfless, brave and one of the courageous women I knew. Plus, she was incredibly stunning that most times, I find it hard to believe that she was indeed my mother." He joked and they both shared a laugh. Only that his didn't reach his eyes. "What happened to her?" Amery took a step further in her questions but when he retreated, she realized that she might've overstepped. "I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions. I promise that it won't happen again-" "No." He cut her short.

Amery knew that this was probably the biggest step he had even taken. To trust her and to let her into his dark and scary past that he was scared of telling anyone. She felt elated that he wanted to open up to her.

"I'm here for you Levi. Don't rush it and I promise you that I will listen."

He nodded his head at her request. Well since she had offered it, he would have to dig up those memories from his past that he had tried so hard to bury in the deepest and darkest part of his brain.

"She passed when we were ten." He said in response to her question. "Apparently, my mother fell ill after she had us. As the year rolled by, it only got worse to the point that she was bedridden and couldn't do anything for herself. I was by her side throughout her entire illness. I was there when she cried when she tried to laugh. When she couldn't sleep, I was the one to hold her hands and make her feel better."

"When the medications and herbs weren't working anymore, I was the one who stood beside her to tell her that everything was going to be fine." The more he spoke, the more he gripped her hands tightly. Amery felt his nails digging into her skin, it hurt but she couldn't complain, she wouldn't.

"With time, I started to get a grasp of everything that was happening. Things suddenly became clearer. I started to understand most things that seemed hidden and that's when I realized that not all was as it seems." He rasped and let go of her hand but as if working on instincts, Amery held onto him.

She definitely wouldn't let him go through all of this on his own. It was already bad enough that he was saying this to her because she could literally see the pain in his eyes.

"And then what happened?" She asked, still squeezing his hands gently.

"What happened is that she chose us over her life." He said at last. "Us coming into this world was never meant to be in the first place. The physician had told mum that she was going to have a very complicated pregnancy and that if she goes ahead to give birth to us, then she might lose her life but she still went ahead to do it. She told me on her deathbed that it was more fulfilling to have us alive." Levi continued, intentionally leaving out the main reason for his mother's death.

"Before she died, she told me to keep my brother's safe and protect them so that they don't get into any kind of trouble. She told me to never do anything that will break up our relationship and that no matter what happens, as family, we should always be together." He whispered, his voice filled with so much regret.

"I have failed her Amery." He blurted out. "She must hate me so much now. I couldn't even keep us together as I have promised her. And now-"

Amery hugged him and in that moment, Levi let his guard down. He allowed himself to feel everything that ran through his mind and soul. He became vulnerable as he let his emotions wash through him.

"You didn't fail." She whispered affectionately. "Your brothers are safe with you and no matter what happens, we are going to fix it, okay? All three of you belong together and nothing is going to change that."

"Stay with me." He played on the ruffles of her dress like a child. Drawing circles around her stomach area. "Please don't leave me, Amery. I don't know what I would do if you leave." He confessed.

"I'm not leaving you Levi." She held up his face with both hands. "I'm right here with you for as long as you need me." She proclaimed. His hands went on to caress her cheeks as he stared at her with those compelling gray eyes.

Amery found it difficult to resist or look away. She was lost in them.

"I want to kiss you right now Amery, can I?" He requested but before she would answer, he crashed his lips on hers.

Amery was shocked for a moment while he kissed her full lips, licking and coaxing her to open her mouth to him. His lips moved against hers. Skimming. Licking. Barely touching.

Her pulse raced and she shivered slightly. The walls of her lower abdomen clenched together as though they were in a fist fight. It was always like this whenever she kissed it. It was like a part of him belonged to her in ways that she just couldn't understand. It was never like this with Asher or Quincy but with Levi, it was always different.

Amery moaned softly and opened up to him. His tongue delved in, gently, urging, begging. His hands were tender as one curled up around her neck, holding her in place while the other raised up slowly from her hips, tracing the line of her back and resting possessively on her bottom.

A flame sizzled through her, pumping and shooting up into her bloodstream like a volcano. Wide and hot. She kissed him back. A kiss filled with inexperience and pure innocence.

She wasn't kissing him to impress him, but she was kissing him because she couldn't control the desire and the desperate urge in her to do so. The thought of it had her head reeling in happiness.

His mouth hardened, becoming hot and compelling. Soft cries escaped her lips, driving him crazy. Her body had already heated up her drenched clothes and she found herself getting hotter by the minute.

His mouth was fastened hard on hers as he kissed her thoroughly. He pulled away and tossed his clothes away.

"I want to make love to you, Amery - to worship every inch of your being. Would you let me?" He asked, his already swollen lips staring at her with nothing but a deeper need that went beyond lust, beyond desire and everything else she has ever known. "Yes." She choked out a reply. "I want you Levi. All of you." She affirmed, waiting for him to make his move.
