Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1714
She immediately stopped asking Rachel questions and rushed back to her workstation to continue working.
Ethan watched her receding back and chuckled.
He turned to Rachel and said, “If she keeps bothering you in the future, just threaten her with her salary, and she’ll definitely shut up.
Her salary means her life to her.”
Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly.
She asked in confusion, “I suppose Mr.
Gibson is providing you with decent salaries.
Why does Karen…”
“Because she tracks every penny she spends,” Ethan explained.
He already knew what Rachel was about to ask.
“If she loses a single cent, it means her entire budget plan is ruined.
So, she can accept a salary increase but absolutely not a pay cut.”
Ethan finished packing up his things.
But he paused and added, “Miss Bennet, since you’ve just arrived, I know you haven’t arranged your workstation yet.
How about you come with me to the equipment room?
You can pick a computer you like.
Then, I’ll take it here and set it up for you.”
“Okay.”
Rachel followed Ethan out.
When they reached the door, she paused, turned around, and looked back.
The others had already returned to their original positions and were focused on their work.
When Ethan saw her stop, his brows furrowed in confusion.
He asked, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing.” Rachel shook her head and pretended it was nothing.
But her eyebrows were slightly furrowed.
As soon as the door closed, she felt that the piercing gaze behind her was blocked.
Ever since Alberto left the conference room, she felt that someone had been staring at her, and the hostility was unmistakable.
But when she looked back, she didn’t find anyone looking at her.
However, the gaze was too intense and hostile to be ignored.
She was pretty sure she wasn’t just imagining things.
Although she didn’t see who it was, she vaguely had someone in mind.
“Ethan…” Rachel suddenly called Ethan, who was walking in front of her.
He stopped, turned to her, and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“That man named Klein Martel…”
“Klein? Well, just don’t mind his attitude.
He is really like that.
He’s reclusive by nature and can be quite arrogant.”
Ethan immediately understood what Rachel was talking about.
“Actually, there’s something I don’t know if I should tell you.”
