Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1693
“Vic… Don’t go…”
Alberto’s lips parted in silent surprise.
His eyes, typically as still as a pond, quivered as the racing of his heart.
The stifled excitement was evident in his voice as he asked, “What is it, Rachel? What did you just call me?”
Rachel only knitted her forehead in response.
It must have been just a subconscious murmur, and she probably wasn’t completely awake.
But Alberto wanted to clear it up and asked again, “Rachel, what did you just call me? Can you say it again?”
Rachel turned to her side with a groan, not responding.
Alberto could see the flush in her cheeks because of the fever.
His racing heart slowly calmed.
He closed his eyes, trying to get a hold of himself.
No, she couldn’t be Shelia.
A sheepish smile tugged at the corner of Alberto’s lips.
How could she be Shelia? They were clearly two different people.
Many people called him Vic before, so it wasn’t that surprising to hear Rachel call him that.
Yeah, that was right.
He was just overthinking it.
Shaking the cloud of suspicion off his head, Alberto pulled the blanket over Rachel, except for her hand.
After debating with himself, he leaned over and held her hand.
Sensing his touch, Rachel clutched his hand tightly as if grasping for solid support in her dream.
After a few hours, Rachel woke up covered in sweat.
The room was pitch black.
She sat up slowly and turned the bedside lamp on.
When she touched her forehead, her palm immediately became wet with tiny beads of sweat.
She remembered having a dream about her past and present selves.
She was shifting from one person to another and had trouble distinguishing who she was in the end-Rachel and Shelia.
There were times in her dream that Victor’s face appeared clearly, but at other times, they were blurry.
Gathering her thoughts, Rachel looked at the time on her phone.
It was already past seven in the evening.
The medicine must have already taken effect as she felt lighter, and her head wasn’t as groggy.
She climbed out of the bed and headed to the bathroom for a shower.
Only after washing up did she realize Dewey had yet to bring her new clothes over.
Rachel wrapped herself in a towel and stepped out of the bathroom.
She walked over to the cabinet and opened it to find something to wear.
Just then, a knock on the door came.
“Just a second,” Rachel called out, scanning the inside of the cabinet
