Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1662
“In the bathroom cabinet.” It appeared that he was unaware of Rachel’s thoughts.
“Okay.”
Without wasting a moment, Rachel went to the bathroom.
As he watched her retreating figure, his grip on the glass tightened.
In a short while, she returned with a damp disposable towel.
“Let’s try to bring down your fever.
Would you consider removing your mask and placing this cold towel on your forehead?”
Glancing between the towel in Rachel’s grasp and then at her, Alberto remained silent.
His eyes seemed to hold a depth that she couldn’t decipher, leaving her uncertain about his emotions in that moment.
“If you’re unwilling to remove your mask, that’s fine.
But a cold compress could be tricky, and it’s not comfortable wearing the mask, is it?” Rachel ventured, noticing his continued silence.
She didn’t expect Alberto to remove his mask.
For years, no one had truly witnessed his face.
Such a trivial excuse couldn’t possibly lower his guard enough to unmask himself.
Her aim was merely to chip away at his defenses and gradually learn more about him.
“Okay.
Just as Rachel was pondering, Alberto unexpectedly agreed.
Rachel was taken aback.
For a moment, she believed she might have misheard, but the next instant, Alberto lifted his hand, gradually removing his mask.
Obscured behind the mask, she caught a glimpse of his handsome brows and twinkling eyes.
Somehow, her heart began to beat faster with his movements.
She didn’t dare to move her eyes for a moment, and her steady gaze fell on his face.
However…
Suddenly, the room plunged into darkness.
And with Alberto’s mask still partially covering his face, she didn’t have a chance to catch a glimpse of his true appearance.
“What’s going on?”
“The power’s out,” Alberto answered, his voice deep and gravelly.
What impeccable timing!
In the darkness, Rachel couldn’t see his face at all.
She could only make out a vague figure before her.
This uncanny timing made her suspect that it was a premeditated move by Alberto.
But..
Alberto had been in her presence from the start, not exhibiting any suspicious behavior.
It was unlikely he could remotely control the power outage, and it was unwarranted.
If he was averse to unmasking himself, he could’ve just denied it.
There was no need for such theatrics.
