She watched his retreating figure, her eyes dimming.

Staring at the ointment, she found herself recalling the afternoon when Alberto revealed that her wristwatch was the reason he recognized her.

It appeared that Alberto paid closer attention to her than she initially thought.

Yet, his frosty demeanor made her question whether she was overthinking.

Feeling a touch of annoyance, Rachel set aside her thoughts and applied some ointment on the back of her hand.

The coolness of the ointment brought relief, without any discomfort.

It seemed to be effective.

Pocketing the ointment, she made her way downstairs.

“Thank you,” she walked up to him and said in a softer tone.

His demeanor remained frigid.

It seemed as though he preferred to maintain a distance from everyone.

Returning the ointment to him, she remarked, “Here you go.

It’s getting late, I don’t want to bother you.”

Casting a fleeting glance at the ointment in her hand, Alberto remained silent.

He paused for a beat, then extended his hand to accept it.

The two people’s hands were in contact with each other for a short time.

It was hot!

Rachel noticed the warmth emanating from his hand and furrowed her brow, concerned as she looked at his pale face.

“You seem to be running a fever.”

Before she could finish her sentence, Rachel instinctively placed the back of her hand on his forehead.

She could feel the intense heat radiating from his skin, indicating that he had a high fever.

“Ahem…” Alberto let out a pair of coughs.

Rachel’s frown deepened.

She should have picked up on Alberto’s condition sooner.

She had no idea how long he had been running this fever.

“We need to get you to the hospital,” Rachel declared.

“I’m not going to any hospital.”

Her eyebrows knitted tighter as she responded, “You’re ill and suffering from a high fever.

Is there any general medicine in the house? Since the servants are on leave, the butler should still be around, right? Could I get his contact number? I’1l give him a call.”

“No,” Alberto looked at her and said after a long silence.

“No?” Rachel asked in disbelief.

In response, Alberto merely coughed again before declaring, “I am well aware of my condition.

You should head back.”

This was the second time he had asked her to leave.

If she hadn’t been aware of his fever, she would have left without hesitation.
