Handing the phone back to Alberto, Rachel had no mood to take the air.

Gibson, enjoy your stay.” Without waiting for Alberto’s response, Rachel made her exit.

She walked out of the garden, never once glancing back.

The assistant remained in a state of bemusement.

After a while, he observed Alberto looking at his phone, fixated on the contact information left by Rachel.

The assistant asked curiously, “Mr.

Gibson, didn’t you already have Miss Bennet’s number?”

Without saying anything, Alberto just added Rachel’s phone number to the Favorites.

Seeing his silence, the assistant chose not to press further.

The nearly four-hour-long auction finally concluded as darkness was starting to set in.

Observing the falling snow, her mind drifted away.

The sudden buzz of her phone redirected her attention.

She grabbed her phone and glanced at the display.

A tender smile adorned her face as she held it in her hands.

It was a video call from Joey.

“Mommy!” The moment the call connected, Joey’s cherubic face filled the screen.

“Mommy, I miss you.”

“I miss you too.”

“Mommy, when will you be back? Uncle Quintin keeps telling me that you’ll be back soon, but it’s been quite a while now.

Mommy, I want you to sleep next to me and recite me bedtime tales.” Joey’s lips formed a small pout, indicating his displeasure.

“Once I’ve sorted everything out, I’ll return.”
