Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1646
Rachel’s cheerful expression froze.
The assistant gave Rachel an exhaustive up-and-down look, asking in a tone of disbelief, “Miss Bennet? Is that you?”
Rachel gave Alberto a puzzled frown, her lips compressed into a fine line.
She was at a loss how he managed to recognize her.
Even Odin, who had previously met Rachel, failed to recognize her.
But Alberto, having only had a single encounter with her, was able to identify her.
Had he genuinely identified her, or was he merely pretending to?
In a matter of seconds, Rachel’s mind raced with multiple possible explanations.
“Sir, Miss Bennet isn’t present at the auction today.
She’s Mr.
Sullivan’s guest.” With Rachel maintaining her silence, the assistant presumed that Alberto had mistaken her identity.
The woman standing before him bore only a passing resemblance to Rachel, and she exuded a different aura.
He began to believe that the woman before him and Rachel were entirely different people.
Alberto just looked at her quietly, disregarding his assistant’s words.
Rachel’s eyes locked with his.
The theories that raced through her mind came crashing down the moment their eyes met.
Inexplicably, she became convinced that Alberto had indeed recognized her.
“You had this wristwatch that day.” Seeming to discern her doubts, Alberto clarified before Rachel could utter a word, his gaze fixed on her wrist.
Rachel looked at her wrist.
There was a delicate lady’s watch around her wrist, which was not conspicuous.
Ordinary people would not pay attention to the watch on her.
She hadn’t put much thought into her accessories when she went out today.
She had merely selected a watch from her wardrobe on a whim, not expecting that this unassuming watch would give her away.
A faint smile appeared on her lips as she remarked, “Mr.
Gibson, you certainly have a sharp memory.”
“You…” The assistant was taken aback, his mouth slightly opened in surprise.
“I’m Rachel Bennet.” Given that she had been identified, the more she tried to hide, the more conspicuous she became.
“Is it truly you? But you appear so…” The assistant remained confused.
They had only seen each other two days ago.
How could a person alter their appearance so dramatically?
Rachel stated succinctly, “I’ve changed my makeup style.”
She was not changing her makeup, but her face, the assistant thought.
Naturally, he didn’t voice his thoughts.
It took him a while to form a suitable response.
“This makeover suits you incredibly well.
You look stunning.”
“Thank you.” Observing the assistant’s struggle to craft his words, a subtle smile twinkled in Rachel’s eyes.
