Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1612
“I see.
Please prepare some coffee.”
Lila bowed lightly to excuse herself and do as she was told.
After cleaning herself up, Rachel came out of her room and headed downstairs.
As soon as she entered the living room, she saw Roger in a suit and long coat.
Even if he was already inside the house, he still looked a little cold.
He looked exhausted as he leaned his elbow against the sofa’s armrest and rested his head on it.
Afraid to disturb him, Rachel strode over in light steps.
They hadn’t seen each other or talked about the engagement since
Victor’s funeral.
They seemed to have agreed to postpone it in tacit understanding, considering what had been going on.
She knew Roger just didn’t want to pressure her about it.
He was only waiting for her to talk about the next step.
Once she mentioned the engagement again, he would immediately show her all the preparations needed.
But since she hadn’t asked, he hadn’t mentioned it either.
As the new leader of Sullivan Group, Odin first targeted the Jimenez family.
He would interfere in every project the Jimenez family participated in and even played dirty tricks secretly, causing Roger to travel a lot for business these days.
It had been nearly a month since he last visited to see her.
“Hi, Rachel.” Feeling a presence next to him, Roger opened his eyes and looked at Rachel with a gentle smile.
Carrying the freshly brewed coffee, Lila returned to the living room and placed it on the coffee table as she asked Roger, “It’s almost dinner time.
Will you stay for dinner?”
Sitting beside Roger, Rachel answered Lila, “He will, Lila.
Please make more dishes.”
Lila immediately smiled.
Since Joey left, the house had become much quieter.
Roger used to visit often, but since he got busy with work, he hadn’t come by until today.
Moreover, Lila observed that since Victor’s funeral, Rachel rarely smiled.
Lila was only a house helper, so she couldn’t ask personal questions even with good intentions and had to keep her concern to herself.
But now that the house had a guest again, Lila was delighted.
“What would you want to eat, Mr.
Jimenez? I’ll go to the supermarket and buy the ingredients,” Lila said with a smile.
Roger took a sip of the coffee and frowned slightly because of the bitter taste.
Putting down the teacup, Roger smiled and declined politely, “No, thanks.
I’m good.”
Although Roger looked his usual self, Rachel could tell something was wrong.
He came over straight from a business trip, and the exhaustion on his face showed that Jimenez Group was currently not doing so well.
When Victor was still the leader of Sullivan Group, the company had a friendly rivalry with Jimenez Group.
But after he died and Odin took over, things changed completely.
Unlike Victor, Odin used dirty tricks against Jimenez Group, which caused a lot of trouble for Roger.
“Is it hectic?” Rachel asked.
She heard from the news that Jimenez
