Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1543
He swallowed his words as a layer of darkness clouded his eyes.
He slowed down the car.
In Rachel’s dream, she saw Victor’s face becoming more and more blurry by the minute until it vanished right before her eyes.
She tried to touch it, but failed.
“Didn’t you say that you were going to wait till I was ready to take your life?” Her throat felt tight, as though someone was strangling her.
She struggled, clenched her fists, and said, “Why did you Lie to me?”
The man standing before her did not utter a word.
His deep dark eyes gazed into her soul as though he was trying to imprint her into his memory.
After a long while, he asked, “Don’t you hate me anymore?”
Hate him?
How could she not hate him?
“Then why are you crying?” Victor asked.
Rachel’s eyes were as red as her Lips.
Why was she crying?
She despised his very existence, and only after he died could she avenge Abby.
Then why was she feeling so depressed? She felt as though her heart was being chopped up into little pieces.
“Here we are, Rachel.” ALL of a sudden, she heard Andy’s soft voice, which woke her up.
Rachel opened her eyes slowly and saw a parking lot.
She turned to Andy, and before she could react, he said, “Here we are.”
Rachel unfastened her seat belt and looked straight ahead for a moment before she got out of the car.
Perhaps, it was because it was snowing that she felt a bit chilly and shivered as soon as she got out of the car.
The funeral home was huge, and they were on the second-floor parking lot.
One could see the spiraling road along the edge of the lawn.
And next to the funeral home was Apliaria’s cemetery, decorated with rows and rows of marble tombstones which were covered in snow, looking desolate.
Noticing how pale she was, Andy took out two hand warmers and handed them to her.
“Rachel, it’s a lot colder here than downtown, so take these.” Andy did not ask her what she had dreamt about in the car.
He took care of her like a doting elder.
Rachel took the hand warmers, and even though the warmth was comforting, her fingertips were still cold.
Carson had booked the entire funeral home so that they could have a peaceful ceremony.
Hence, only a few cars were parked outside.
Rachel and Andy didn’t stay outside for long and soon entered the mourning hall.
Victor’s picture hanging in the center of the hall was the first thing they noticed.
Rachel recognized it at just a glance.
