Butterscotch Souls: The Morningstar Series: Book 4
Butterscotch Souls – Chapter 47

“Wow.” I pushed out between pants.

Ambrose and I had just went for round… Gods I’m not even sure. It was hard to keep track with how amazing it felt. I lost track of my o*****s after having my 14th.

“Yeah.” Ambrose replied just as breathless.

I rolled over and snuggled into his side. He wrapped his arm around me and the sparks danced through my body again. How am I supposed to keep my hands off of him when it feels this good?

“How are we supposed to stop?” I asked as I ran my hands along his bare body. Sparks shot through me as I trailed down his abs. I shivered at the sensation.

“We have to be strong.” My mate said as he rolled me over and nestled back between my legs. “We have to control ourselves.” He said as he started to k**s down my neck.

His lips burn my skin in all the best ways.

“We must be weak.” I said as I wrapped my legs around his waist.

I could feel his hard shaft rub against me. I’m still so wet, and so ready. Ambrose slid himself between my slick folds before lining up at my entrance. There was only a slight hesitation before he pushed himself inside of me. We m****d at the same time.

So far Ambrose and my love making has set five fires, water burst through our taps six times, wind lifted us to hover in the air three times, and we may have caused a few earthquakes as well. I’m not sure if it’s my power reacting to my mates touch, or if I’m losing control. I’m not sure that I even care though. It feels so good, too good.

“Ambrose.” I m****d out as he started to get rougher. “Feed from me.” I said.

“What if I can’t stop?” Ambrose asked against my skin, though I could feel his fangs drag across my neck.

“You will.” I said. I’m not sure how I am so positive about that but I am.

Ambrose seemed to take my word for it. I felt the pinch to my skin when he bit down on me, right over the marks on my neck. Ambrose g*****d when my b***d filled his mouth. He started to f**k me even faster as he bit down harder. All I could do was m**n. My o****m built and built until…

“Ambrose!” I screamed out as pure ecstasy crashed through my body.

My mate thrusted into me three more times until I felt his seed spill inside of me again. At this point I’m overflowing with our mixed juices. For whatever reason that just makes me hornier. Ambrose is still sucking from my neck and still inside of me.

Are we going again?

You need to stop Epperly. Came a voice.

Who is that?

Epperly, can you hear me? It came again.

It sounds so familiar.

Goddamnit Epperly! Snap out of it! I can barely see through your l**t fog! Wake up! Epperly! Wake! Up!

Ambrose released me at the same time that I gasped. My mate tumbled to the floor as I sat up. It was like a jolt shot through my body and ended in Ambrose. He scrambled to his knees and looked up at me.

“Uh, what the f**k?” Was all he asked.

I shook my head. “I think that we might have gotten too carried away..” I trailed off.

Carried away is an understatement. Adria grumbled. There was all this fog in your head and I was starting to choke on it. She said.

I rolled my eyes. Please, like you weren’t enjoying it too.

I was, at first, and after the first couple hours. But then it just got… controlling. It was like you guys were stuck. She told me.

I frowned and then felt hands on my face.

“Are you alright baby?” Ambrose asked me.

I nodded and grabbed his hand. “Yeah, are you?” I asked.

Ambrose got up and sat on the bed next to me.

“I think so.” He said sounding unsure. “That was… strange.” He said. “Amazing, but strange.”

I giggled. “It was. But it was a lot of fun.” I said as I got up and headed for the bathroom. “Wanna do it again?” I asked from the doorway.

NO! Adria screamed in my head.

“Kohen said we shouldn’t.” Ambrose said but his eyes said something else.

“Adria agrees with him. But it feels so good.” I said as I traced my fingers up his arm.

Ambrose nodded as he stared at me. Then he shook his head and stood up. I watched as my mate went and opened all the windows in our bedroom. When he turned back to me I raised an eyebrow at him.

“I just need some air. To clear my head.” He said.

You need to get ahold of yourself. Adria growled at me. I know it feels good to touch our mate but you need to distance yourself. Think about our pup, she needs to eat. My wolf offered.

You’re right. I agreed with her.

“I’m going to shower. Without you.” I said to my mate. “Maybe that bit of space will do us some good.” I said.

“I’ll go make you something to eat.” He told me.

“Okay.” I smiled.

Ambrose walked over to me and cupped my cheek. He leaned down and brushed his lips against mine. I shivered at the sparks that came with the soft touch of his lips. Then he pulled away.

“I’m going.” He said with a g***n.

I giggled as I watched Ambrose pull on a pair of boxers. He opened our door and turned to give me one last look. I smiled sweetly at him and he g*****d before walking out of the room.

Shaking my head I turned for the bathroom and showered. I made sure to take my time, to give my mate some space. As I washed my hair all I could think about was Ambrose.

To distract myself from all the thoughts that would inevitably lead back to us in bed, I thought about all the other good things. His smile, his dark blue eyes, his soft blonde hair. I even thought about the way he talks and that deep voice.

How he is always so gentle but stern with everyone. The kindness that radiates from him. I thought about the way he helps the BOC members in training, and how good his is with Tate. How he always makes sure that I’m fed and happy. I’m not sure how I got so lucky to have him.

I opened my eyes and gasped. I had to look around to make sure that I’m still home, and in my shower. It looks different.

Did I do this?

The whole huge walk in shower is covered in beautiful deep green moss. Tiny flowers of all colors are dotting across the moss. A small tree has grown on the other side of the shower against the wall. It’s like I’m in some kind of outside fairy shower. I can’t get over how breath taking it is.

I turned the shower off and stared at the small piece of nature I creatured. Reaching out to touch the moss I giggled at how fluffy it is. The flowers wrapped around my fingers, like were giving me tiny hugs. When I placed my palm on the tree it took on a slight glow.

“Wow..” I breathed out.

Adria surfaced and looked through my eyes. I could feel her shock and awe mix with my own. This is… wow. I don’t even have words. Is this what my power is like? I think of my mate and can grow a whole forest?

The door opened and I looked through a small part of the glass that isn’t covered in moss, to see my mate. Ambrose slowly walked over to the shower door and peered in. His eyes scanned over everything. The moss has grown over the door and I think he was afraid that I’m trapped.

“What is this?” He asked.

I shrugged. “I don’t know. I just… created it.” I said. “Accidently.” I added.

“Accidently?” Ambrose asked confused.

I nodded. “I was just thinking of you. Trying not to think s****l thoughts. And when I opened my eyes this was here.” I told him.

Ambrose stared at me for a moment before huffing.

“Well, can you get out?” He asked.

“I could teleport, ya know, cause I can do that now.” I said excitedly.

Ambrose and I had went at it the moment our lips touched. We haven’t had time to talk about all the weird s**t that happened while we were making love. My mate and I were too wrapped in each other, too fogged over to say anything really.

“Yes baby I know, but we can’t teleport in and out of our shower forever.” He told me.

I pouted. Why not? I like this, it’s pretty and.. homey?

Sighing I reached out for the door. I wasn’t sure if I should rip it all apart or if maybe I should try to ask it to leave. I thought maybe if I touched it I could get a sense of what to do. But when I reached out for the door handle, the moss and flowers moved out of my way. It wrapped around itself to allow me to exit the shower. I stared at it with wide eyes as I opened the door and stepped out.

Turning around I watched to see what would happen when I shut the door. The moss and tiny flowers grew back into place and didn’t stop there. Ambrose and I watched as the moss and roots to the tree grew across the shower. It took over the whole space, turning it into a whole new area. Once it covered every area of the shower it stopped.

I reached back out to the moss covered door. Once again it moved out of my way to allow me inside. I peeked my head in to see that the moss covered everything but the shower head, and all of our soaps and such. When I pulled my head back out I looked up at my mate, who was staring at the scene before him.

“Uh, I think this is our new shower.” I said.

Ambrose nodded and swallowed. “Looks like it.” He said.

I frowned at his words. “You don’t like it?” I asked.

I’m not really sure why that bothered me. It wasn’t like I made this on purpose. Still, it felt like it belonged here. I wanted Ambrose to like it as much as I do.

“Baby, I love it.” He said as he reached out to touch the moss. Just like with me, the tiny flowers wrapped around his fingers giving him tiny hugs. “It’s almost like it’s alive.” He commented. “It’s.. breath taking Epperly.”

Ambrose turned to meet my eyes and I beamed at him. He returned that smile and then turned to get me a towel. Ambrose wrapped the fluffy towel around me and grabbed my hand. He lead me to our bedroom and grabbed one of his T-shirts. He dried me off before pulling the dark blue material over my head. Then he moved to dry my hair.

These are things that I thought of when I created that small piece of nature. Ambrose has made me feel like a Goddess even before I knew I was one. He pampers me because he wants to, because he thinks I deserve it.

“You’re glowing.” Ambrose whispered in my ear before kissing my cheek.

My eyes popped open and I looked down at myself.

“Have I even stopped since the seal was broken?” I asked with a laugh.

I feel different, way different, since Kee broke the seal officially. All of this power erupted inside of me. Sometimes I understood it, even if I wasn’t sure how. Other times I had no idea what was going on. Adria was just at as much of a loss during those times.

There’s a buzzing under my skin that I think only I can feel. Not even Adria has commented on it. It doesn’t feel dangerous, or out of control. No, it feels like it’s protecting, waiting. Waiting for what? I’m not sure. I feel like nothing could touch me, but I am not stupid enough to not worry about those around me.

Being able to see aura’s and power now had me feeling like I needed to pay more attention. It wasn’t like I even had the chance to look at anyone else. Still, the thoughts are at the back of my mind. I need to protect everyone, even if I am with child. Only those who I deem worthy will be allowed to fight in this war.

“I’m pretty sure you will always glow now, at least slightly.” Ambrose said knocking me from my thoughts.

I giggled. “That won’t scream ‘Hey look at the new Goddess’ or anything.” I said sarcastically.

Ambrose chuckled. “Maybe you can control it eventually, but for now it’s not important.” He said. “Now that the l**t fog is gone I can tell how hungry you and our daughter are.” He said.

My mate is right. Calliope is hungry. Just like before I can feel her. Her soul speaks to me. She loves hearing her fathers voice. My eyes started to mist.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Ambrose asked as he knelt in front of me. “Why are you crying?” He asked softly as he wiped the few stray tears from my cheeks.

I shook my head and took a deep breath.

“Nothing.” I said. “It’s just… she loves hearing your voice.” I said as I placed my hand over my belly. “This almost overwhelming happiness takes over in my body when you talk and I know it comes from her. Almost like she wants to giggle, it’s just…” I trailed off as I looked into my mates eyes.

“I wish that Tate could have gotten this. Could have had you here this whole time.” I said.

Ambrose reached up to cup my face.

“Stop beating yourself up over it baby. I know you feel bad, but you didn’t know who I was back then. You were on the run. Tate doesn’t blame you, I don’t blame you, so relax and just enjoy the life we have now.” He said.

“What if Tate grows up to hate me?” I asked with a sniffle.

Ambrose laughed, acutally laughed at me.

“Baby, there is no way that will happen. First of all, he’s too young to really understand the situation, but he does see more than we believe he does. Tate might not fully understand why I couldn’t be with you guys before, but he does understand that you did what you had to do.” He told me.

I sniffled again. “He shouldn’t have had to understand anything.” I said softly.

Ambrose stood up and kissed the top of my head.

“As much as I know you are going to hate to hear this…” My mate trailed off.

“Epperly, you were never meant to have a simple life. Neither was I. Which means that it’s silly to think that our children would have simple lives as well. We are too powerful for that. All we can do, is build a better life for our kids than we had. You have already done that for Tate, without me. It’s time you stop feeling bad for yourself and for our son, and time that you start feeling like the Goddess that you are.” He said.

The amount of pride in my mate’s voice almost brought my tears back. I smiled up at him. Ambrose is right. It’s time I stop throwing a pity party. All I ever wanted was a simple life.

I wanted to find my mate and have a big family. I wanted to live deep in the woods where the outside world couldn’t find me. Looking back now, it was a silly dream. I should have known back then that I would never live a simple life.

Now though, my dreams have changed. What I want out of life is different. I want to stay here, with Ambrose. I want Tate to finish school and follow his own dreams. I want to have more children with Ambrose. I want to stay here with our family and friends and raise our beautiful little Gods and Goddesses. The only thing standing in my way at this point, is Zeus.

“Come on, let’s get you fed.” Ambrose said as he held his hand out to me.

I placed my hand in his and let him lift me to my feet. Ambrose gently pulled me from our bedroom to our dinning room table. There are candles lighting up the dark room.

A vase of tulips sat at the center of the table. Ambrose has two plates sitting at the table in our usual spot. I can smell the spagetti in the air along with the garlic bread.

“The food isn’t that fancy. I just whipped up something quick.” Ambrose said from behind me. “But I hope that this is romatic anyways.” He said before placing a k**s to my cheek.

I turned my head to look at him.

“You do realize I grew up in a lab right? Just telling me I’m beautiful is romantic.” I said.

Ambrose chuckled.

“Well, you deserve more than that, but you are more than just beautiful.” He told me with a wink as he ushered me to take a seat.

I sat down and noticed the large glass of b***d in front of me. My nostrils flared as I took in the scent. It’s my mates. An undeniable urge shot through me and I knew it had come from my daughter. She’s thristy and no one’s b***d smells better than her dads.

“So,” Ambrose said after had been eating for a few minutes. “Do you think we should talk about all those things you did while we were in the bedroom?” He asked casually.

I took a sip of his b***d. “Hmmm?” I hummed out. “What is there to talk about?” I asked innocently.

Ambrose raised a brow at me and he gave me a smile.

“Oh I don’t know, how about the fires you started, or the pipes bursting, or the wind, oh, or my favorite part, the earthquakes. I thought it was just you shaking, turns out it was the whole damn house.” He went on and on.

“Okay, okay.” I said with a laugh. “I don’t know what to say. I didn’t mean to do any of it. It just happened.” I said.

Ambrose nodded. “I know baby, but do you remember what it felt like when you did all of that?” He asked.

I turned to him and gave him an incredulous look.

“Gee, I wonder what I could have been feeling with you sheathed inside of me.” I said sarcastically.

Ambrose laughed and almost choked on his food.

“Okay fair enough.” He said. “Should we practice doing more of that?” My mate asked.

I turned to him with a sly smile.

“Well, I mean if you want to get lost in the fog again I wouldn’t object.” I said.

Yes you will. Adria growled out.

Ambrose chuckled at me and I’m pretty sure that is a blush in his cheeks.

“I meant without me being inside of you baby.” He said amused.

“Well that doesn’t sound nearly as fun.” I pouted.

Ambrose laughed again. I love the sound of his laugh. It’s deep like his voice, and genuine. I could listen to it all day.

Air whisped around us and it smelled of fresh dirt and camp fire. Ambrose looked around us but I just stared at him. I can feel the wind and it’s warm, like we are sitting in the sunlight. When Ambrose looked back at me he looked shocked.

“You’re glowing again.” He said.

I smiled. “It’s you. Anything to do with you.” I said.

Ambrose furrowed his brow. “What do you mean?” He asked.

“This.” I gestured around us as the wind blew softly again.

It swirled around me before moving to Ambrose and doing the same. It’s strange that I can see it.

“Anytime that I think of you, or you do something that I love, which is like, all the time.” I said.

“So, I’m the key to your powers then.” Ambrose concluded.

“Looks like it.” I said.

“What happens when you think of Tate?” He asked. I shrugged. “Well try.” He urged.

I smiled and closed my eyes. Memories of Tate and I before we met Ambrose surfaced. Despite how rough we were living, we had some really good times. His giggles bounced around in my head.

I remembered the first time that I saw his face, the first time that he smiled back at me. His first word, and the first time that he said ‘momma’. My heart feels so full.

“Epperly.” Ambrose said my name softly.

I opened my eyes to see our table covered in the same moss and tiny flowers as our shower. The moss covered every inch of the table but somehow missed our plates, cups, and utencils. Tiny colorful flowers sprouted across the table. Once it was wrapped around the entire table, it stopped.

I looked up at my mate. “What am I? Some kind of growing Goddess?” I asked him.

Ambrose shrugged. “It seems that way. When you think about anything that makes you happy, you grow things.” He said, “Try getting mad.” He suggested.

“What?” I asked with as furrowed brow.

“Do it. Come on.” Ambrose urged me.

I rolled my eyes before trying to think of something that makes me mad.

“I’m at a loss.” I admitted.

“Hmm.” Ambrose hummed out. “How would you feel if you found out that I had been with another women before you? Or even during those five years we spent apart?” He asked.

Adria growled in my head. Just the thought of our mate touching another women started a fire in me, and not a good fire. A growl ripped from deep in my chest. Ambrose held my gaze as the anger spread in me.

“Were you?” I asked.

Ambrose shrugged. Another growl tore from me. And then large bright flames erupted around my mate. Ambrose froze in his chair. My anger quickly turned into fear. Before I could even think of what to do the fire was gone just as suddenly as it came.

I stared at my mate, inspecting him for wounds, but he had none. Not a scratch or burn on him. All of his clothes are still in tack as well, by all of his clothes I mean his boxers and sweatpants.

“It seems like your emotions control elements.” He said and then leaned in to k**s my lips. “But you didn’t hurt me in the slightest. It was more like you were lashing out.” He told me. “And no, I have never been with anyone but you.”

I smiled as Ambrose leaned back in his seat.

“You better not have been. I might have killed the poor girl.” I said with a sweet smile.

Ambrose chuckled. “Maybe we can practice for the rest of the night.” He suggested.

Just as I was about to reply, Pops appeared in front of us.

“Sorry Brose, but we have other matters to attend to at the moment.”
