Alpha's One Night Bride
Alpha’s One Night Bride – Chapter 71

Rock had to establish a new plan; everything he worked for these last few months was destroyed the moment Arina found out what he was up to. She ended up having the baby early and kept it from him. Now he was back to square one, but that wasn’t going to stop him from accomplishing what he set out to do.

He decided that because Arina and Jonathan don’t know Nikini’s background and Arina seems to trust Boris Conway, perhaps Nikini can make her way into their home and take the child for him. They would have to keep Jess, Jonathan’s mother, out of the way though because she has met Nikini in the past.

One look at Nikini Conway, and Jess would ruin the entire plan.

Rock was pleased that Nikini was on board with that plan and would be arriving shortly. Meanwhile, he had to try and get Piper to leave. She was frantic because she almost died, but the stupid girl was still hanging around. Tears streaming down her face as she begged Rock to listen to her. She kept going on and on about how she would never betray him.

If it wasn’t piper, then how else would Arina know about his plans?

(Jonathan)

“Nikini will be coming here by sundown tonight. They are going to try and keep my mother out of the way. Nikini will try and snatch Emee. They have no idea we are on to them,” Jonathan explained, pacing back and forth through his living room.

The room consisted of Arina, Jessica, Jess, Erick, and Ronnie. They were all watching him with big and wonderous eyes. He had revealed to them everything he was learning how to do. He was not only able to see current events of different wolves around the country, but he was also able to teleport to any of the locations as well.

If he were to touch someone, he would be able to see everything there was to know about that person. Past, future, and present.

It was an incredible gift to have; the amount of power the cufflink held was astonishing and Jonathan wasn’t sure if he was going to be able to handle all of it. But he was certainly going to try if it meant protecting those he loved.

Arina held Emee close to her chest; she was staring up at Jonathan with worry lingering in her eyes. He wanted to wrap her in his arms and tell her that everything was going to be alright and not to worry. He’s protected her from Rock in the past without any issues; he intended to do the same thing again.

“Arina?” Jonathan said, moving closer to her. “I need you to take Emee and go to Onyxfang with Eric and Ronnie.”

It was the best solution he had; Rock and Nikini would have no idea that she wasn’t going to be here. But she looked anything but thrilled.

She frowned and her eyebrows creased in a questioning manner.

“I want to stay with you,” she argued; he knew she would argue about it.

“We don’t have time to discuss it. I need you both to be safe. Right now, Onyxfang is the safest place I can think of,” Jonathan said back.

“Actually…” Erick cut in, turning their attention to him. “Onyxfang is practically destroyed. Some buildings are still intact though. We could hide out in them; but for the most part, I think the pack is non-existent.”

Jonathan had almost forgotten Onyxfang practically went up in flames during that war Graham started. With all the explosions that went on around the place, he was surprised there were a few buildings still intact. He was also surprised a lot of his pack members came out unscratched and alive. Jonathan told Erick a few weeks ago that they can reside in Sabrebite until they can figure out what to do about their town.

At that point, Onyxfang was abandoned and rundown, which would make it an even better hiding spot for Arina and Emee. It would be the last place Rock would look.

“Just find somewhere to hide them,” Jonathan told him.

Erick nodded.

“Jonathan, no,” Arina argued again, standing to her feet. Jessica was also by her side; they both looked terrified. Arina’s eyes were growing misty as she cradled Emee in her arms gently. “I can’t leave you,” she said in a broken whisper.

Jonathan didn’t want to leave her either. Since they’ve been married it’s been nothing but obstacles standing in their way. But it was the price he was willing to make to keep his family safe.

Jonathan closed his eyes and thought of Nikini.

Her dark fur was radiant against the fading sunlight; the sun was setting in the distance and Jonathan recognized the woods she was walking through. They weren’t far from Sabrebite. Nikini was also not alone; another wolf was walking beside her; he was bigger built, but his fur was just as dark and radiant in the sun. He had fresh b***d smeared on his face and dripping from his teeth.

Boris.

Opening his eyes, he looked at the startled and concerned faces surrounding him.

“Boris is coming with her,” he announced.

Arina’s shoulders slumped in defeat. This was somebody she trusted dearly; she thought it was somebody her mother trusted. Meeting and knowing Boris had made her feel that much closer to Emlin.

“They aren’t far,” he added. “You need to leave.”

Arina wasn’t going to argue anymore. She walked closer to him and stood on her tippy toes so she can k**s his face. He closed his eyes and breathed into her k**s. He missed her touch and her embrace. He wanted to get entangled in her arms and vice versa; he wanted to show her how a wolf should treat and love his luna.

“I love you,” he whispered to her.

Tears welled up in her eyes and she wiped the stray tears with the back of her hand.

“I love you,” she said in a broken whisper as she brought Emee up to him.

He took Emee in his arms and kissed her forehead. She stirred uncomfortably for a moment but then fell into place in his arms and gave him a soft smile. Her smile brought a sense of warmth and comfort to Jonathan’s heart.

He kissed her again before handing her back to Arina.

“Please be careful,” she told him with her lips quivering.

“You too,” he said in return.

Erick motioned for Ronnie, Arina, and Jessica to follow him. Jess and Jonathan watched them leave. Jonathan felt relief once they were gone and out of sight. He knew he would be able to keep an eye on them and be with them wherever they went, as long as he had the cufflink.

He closed his eyes again and thought of Rock.

Rock was in his human form with Melissa; they were heading in this direction as well.

“What is the plan? We just walk up to the house and take the baby?” Melissa asked, trying to keep up with Rock who was way ahead of her.

He looked annoyed at Melissa’s question.

“I told you to stay home,” Rock snapped at her. “You’ll only get in the way.”

“You never used to think that of me before. Not since she came into the picture,” Melissa cried.

Jonathan assumed she was talking about Piper, Rock’s new long-term mistress.

“She almost died at my hands because of her betrayal. Don’t make me do the same to you,” he hissed at her.

Her face grew red, and she knew to shut up.

Jonathan opened his eyes and looked over at his mother who was staring at him worriedly.

“What’s going on?” She asked.

“Rock and Melissa are close. It’s showtime.”

(Arina)

As we got to Onyxfang, the sun had set, and the full moon was visible in the sky. Erick was right; the entire town was practically destroyed completely. Nothing but rubble; only a couple of buildings still stood and even they were run down and non-functioning.

Seeing the town like it was broke my heart; I couldn’t imagine what it must be like to walk amongst a town that I spent so long caring for and protecting, only to see it destroyed due to explosions from other wolves.

I could only imagine what Erick must be feeling at this very moment. Looking over at him his expression was unreadable. He had a glossy look over his eyes and he stared at the rubble under his feet as though he felt nothing towards it. Even though I knew he felt everything.

He took us to a smaller building at the end of the town; there wasn’t much left inside. It looked to be an older bakery. I handed Emee to Jessica who was sprawled out on a booth that was covered in spiderwebs and dust.

“I don’t want to just sit here and wait,” I huffed as more worry began setting in.

What I wanted to do was go and help Jonathan, but I knew that was going to be impossible.

“Well, you have to,” Erick informed me.

There was no way he was going to let me leave; none of them were going to help me leave.

“Erick, I need to help him,” I argued.

Erick just shook his head.

“He gave me a job to protect you, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do,” Erick told me.

I knew he was right, but it didn’t mean I was going to accept it. I needed to find some way to help Jonathan while keeping Emee safe.

I looked out the window at the large full moon, making its way into the starry night. I could feel my mother’s energy radiating off my features and bringing me to life. I knew she was watching me and waiting for me to make a move.

Erick went into the back to see if he could find some firewood. Ronnie followed my gaze to the moon and frowned.

“What are you thinking about?” She asked.

I looked over at her.

“I’m thinking I need to help my husband,” I told her.
