Alpha's One Night Bride
Alpha’s One Night Bride – Chapter 62

Jess saw Jonathan in the distance when the explosion went off. It didn’t hit them, but it was close enough towards the town where it could have gotten the others. On the way through the woodland forest, Naomi had mentioned that there was going to be an explosion and that they needed to get down before they were hit. She said that it’ll clip Arina, Jess, and Erick but it won’t kill them.

She sent out a warning to Erick, telling him that he needed to get the girls out of there as quickly as possible. It was their only chance of surviving. As for them, well, they needed to get to Jonathan before Graham got to him first.

Jess could hear the gunshots coming from some of the surrounding towns and it worried her that they were going to march through Sabrebite with guns as well. In her wolf form, she could smell the outsiders approaching and they were arriving quickly.

The woods were flooded with different wolves from Sabrebite; a lot of them were only there for hunting during the red moon ceremony. However, since the explosion and the gunshots began raining down, they were all frozen in their spots confused as to what was happening. Jonathan hadn’t warned them about a potential war because he didn’t want to worry anybody. But now that the war was clearing in the making, they all felt blindsided and confused.

Most of their families were back in the town center, scrambling to get home because of the explosion that startled them. Jess hoped that nobody got injured in the process.

Jess was surprised to see Jonathan sitting in his human form at the edge of the town line. She mimicked his motion and transitioned into her human form as well. As she got closer, she was even more surprised to see that he was holding a gun.

Jonathan turned to see Jess approaching him; a flood of relief washed over his expression as he saw Naomi beside her. Jess was still in awe that she was able to summon Naomi. She was even more beautiful than she could have ever imagined. She reminded Jess of a dark-skinned goddess with a body of a model and features that were so radiant that it made her heart melt.

“Mom!” Jonathan said as he ran towards her.

He looked worried and relieved all at the same time. He wrapped his arms around her and held onto her tightly. She could tell he was afraid of what was approaching.

“Is Arina okay?” He asked, panic in his voice as he looked between Jess and Naomi.

“She will be fine,” Naomi answered.

He sighed out relieved before addressing her.

“You must be the Witch of Perception,” he said, bowing his head to her.

Jess could tell she was stifling a laugh but held it in. She nodded and motioned for him to sit back up.

“Naomi,” she introduced herself. After a breath of silence, more gunshots broke through the air, nearly skimming Jonathan. He turned to see a couple of outsiders standing nearby with guns pointed at them.

Jess couldn’t help but gasp in fear; she had never been in the face of a gun before and she wasn’t sure how to take it. She was shocked to find Jonathan pointing the gun back at them; he wasn’t hesitant to begin shooting in their direction.

“Get down!” He yelled to Jess.

Jess felt frozen though and found it difficult to move quickly. Thankfully, Naomi was much more level-headed; probably because she couldn’t die from these bullets. She grabbed Jess’s arm and pulled her towards a nearby tree to hide behind.

She was reluctant to leave Jonathan, but he seemed as though he was handling his own just fine. As Jess peered around the tree, she saw Jonathan shoot the silver bullets straight through the hearts of the outsiders, killing them almost instantly.

More wolves came out of hiding and began shooting at Jonathan as well; he managed to dodge the bullets and shoot them as well. They fell to the ground with b***d pouring from their bodies. Jess had to keep her mouth covered to keep herself from screaming.

“Where’s Graham?” Jess asked Naomi.

“In Onyxfang. He’s waiting for us. He knows we are coming,” Naomi told her.

Jess didn’t like the sound of that, that meant Graham had some kind of retaliation plan in the works.

“We need to go now if we want this to work,” Jonathan said as he made his way over to Jess.

He had beads of sweat piling on his forehead and Jess noticed a bloodstain on his right shoulder blade. She gasped as he got closer; she touched her fingers to the wound on his shoulder and he winced in pain.

“You were hit?” She gasped.

“I’m fine,” he told her. “We have to go.”

“He’s right,” Naomi said. “Graham is waiting.”

Jonathan

It didn’t take them long to reach Onyxfang because it was only the next town over. Jess and Jonathan ran in their wolf form and Naomi trailed behind them quickly using her witch’s magic. As they approached the border of Onyxfang, the gunshots began getting louder. More explosions were coming from that direction as well.

A knot was forming in Jonathan’s stomach knowing that Erick couldn’t be there to help defend his pack. Instead, he was in Sabrebite keeping watch over Jonathan’s pack, Arina, and Ronnie. Jonathan moved quickly and without stopping despite the shooting pain he was feeling in his right shoulder blade.

Thankfully, the bullet only grazed him and didn’t do any permanent damage. But it still hurt.

Graham was waiting in the center of the town, just as Naomi had said he was. He was surrounded by some of his strongest pack members. Some of them were in their wolf forms and others were in their human forms. The ones in their human forms were holding weapons; Graham stood in the center, also holding weapons.

His face was filled with anger and hatred as he stared around at Jonathan and then at Jess. Eventually, his eyes landed on Naomi and his l*p curled up in what seemed like disgust. Jonathan knew he was going to try and go after her before she could go after him.

Looking around the town of Onyxfang, it was typically already run down. It’s been run down for a long time, and it was something that Erick has been trying to fix ever since he became the Alpha. But in this case, it didn’t look recoverable. Graham and his goons had destroyed it completely; Jonathan could tell bombs had exploded around the buildings, causing them to nearly crumble.

Members of Erick’s pack were laying around the streets with fatal gunshot wounds. Some of them had their hearts ripped out of their chests. It was disgusting how wolves could do this to one another. Jonathan wondered how many other territories they destroyed and killed.

“Graham!!” Jonathan yelled to him through gritted teeth. “It ends now!”

Jonathan swore he heard Graham laughing. The sound of the laughter infuriated Jonathan even more. Jonathan took a step forward but was stopped by an explosion that knocked him off his feet. Falling to the ground he heard a ringing sound in his ears; a smoke cloud lifted and circulated him. However, it wasn’t touching him.

He breathed rapidly as his vision of the surrounding area began disappearing. He lost sight of Graham and his goons and was trying to scramble to his feet and figure out what had just happened.

He noticed Naomi standing beside him with her arms out; she was using her magic to form a shield around Jonathan, Jess, and herself.

“Land mines,” she said. “He planted them around.”

Standing up, Jonathan turned back in the direction of Graham. The smoke began clearing a little bit to where Jonathan could now see him. He hasn’t moved from his position; probably because he didn’t want to set off any of the mines. He probably didn’t know that Naomi could form a shield to protect Jonathan from the explosions.

As predicted, Graham didn’t look happy.

“Can you hold this shield up a little longer?” Jonathan asked her.

“Yes,” Naomi confirmed.

Turning to Jess he asked.

“Can you shoot a gun?”

She blinked at him, confused by his question.

“No,” she answered.

He handed her a handgun anyways.

“Point and pull the trigger,” he told her as he turned back to the Graham.

His goons were readying their stances, ready for Jonathan’s full attack. They haven’t discussed a full plan, so Graham wasn’t sure what they were planning on doing or how they were going to bypass the rest of the mines.

“Naomi! Try to keep us shielded,” Jonathan yelled to her.

Without much warning, he turned back to Graham and began running towards him. A full-on sprint through the mines. One by one each mine began exploding as Jonathan ran through them. It almost felt like everything was going down in slow motion. Naomi stayed in her spot, holding her arms around to keep the shield around Jonathan.

Jess also took off running with her separate shield Naomi had formed around her. She was running and she began shooting at random. She was trying hard to aim for Graham’s goons, but she never shot a gun before and missed most of her targets. Though she was able to injure some of them and stop them from shooting/slow them down.

Graham began shooting at Jonathan and threw a grenade in his direction. Jess screamed as the grenade went off and knocked Jonathan to the ground. B***d splattering across Jonathan’s face and coats his clothing.

It didn’t take long for Jess to realize that it wasn’t Jonathan’s b***d, but the b***d of the wolves that had once surrounded him. The grenade took out most of the goons and Jess was able to shoot out the rest of them.

Naomi began taking off slowly towards them; her footsteps practically glowing as she walked through the trenches of the deceased. She climbed through the rubble that was left behind and kept her eyes locked on Graham. She saw the cufflink on Graham’s left wrist and knew she needed to get to it and quickly.

Jonathan was now in his wolf form and aiming to attack Graham. Biting into Graham’s neck, Graham fell to the ground, letting out sounds of anguish. B***d oozed out of his neck and down Jonathan’s chin as Graham attempted to grab onto his fallen gun. At that point, Naomi released the shield from Jonathan because she knew there weren’t any more bombs left to go off.

She kept the shield around Jess though for her own protection. Jess was currently fighting off some wolves that survived the explosion.

Jonathan kept his attention on Graham and swiped at him with his claws. Eventually, Graham got enough strength to kick Jonathan out from underneath him and bite into his shoulder blade. The same shoulder that was grazed by a bullet. Jonathan screamed out in pain as he struggled to kick Graham off him.

Graham wasn’t much stronger than Jonathan, but at the moment, Jonathan was in so much pain that it felt like Graham had the upper hand. Graham swiped at him again and dug his teeth deep into his flesh. Pulling Jonathan’s fur and skin within the bite.

“Aaaaahhh!” Jonathan yelled out as pain coursed through his body.

He felt as though he was about to lose consciousness; he fought hard to keep himself from doing so but he could feel himself losing grip on reality. He was trying to kick Graham off him so he could go in for another attack. But his body, even in his wolf form, was preventing him from doing so.

The only thing he could do was the transition back into his human form and try to use his leg strength to get Graham off him. As he turned back into his wolf form, he could feel the weight of Graham nearly crushing him. His claws dug into Jonathan’s flesh; he was taking his time in killing Jonathan. He wanted to see him suffer. He wanted to see Jonathan in pain.

Jonathan watched as Graham searched around the ground and then came across a gun. As the gun was pointed at his chest, he knew this was going to be his last moment. His only regret was that he wasn’t able to see his daughter being born and telling Arina how much he loved her.

He could feel a tear springing from his eye at the same moment he saw a faint glowing light from beside him. Naomi was standing near, and her aura was glowing soft white light. She looked almost angelic. She was saying something in Latin that Jonathan couldn’t understand, but the more she spoke, the more she glowed. He could feel her powers radiate off her body.

Graham didn’t seem to notice; he was too focused on defeating Jonathan once and for all. The last thing Jonathan remembered was the sound of the gunshot.

Then, everything went black.
