Alpha's Little Vampire Mate -
Chapter 58
Marcus's POV:
She kept turning and tossing in her sleep.
It was a rare sight to see her sweating profusely, because she was ice cold almost all the time. A little cry escaped her throat and her hand tightened around mine that was gripping her hands to keep her from hurting herself. "No, no," she kept muttering in her sleep, as she kept stirring. Her legs kicked against the sheets, getting tangled in them and her struggling doubled.
I dabbed her head with the piece of cloth I was holding, wiping her face and neck to reduce the amount of sweat. I had taken off her dress, taking her bra too and left her in only her underwear, but it still did nothing to help with the sweating. My mind began to work, as I kept cleaning her face. What if meeting her grandfather had triggered some kind of disturbing past events?
She had once told me that her memories came back whenever she got a trigger before falling asleep and I suspected that it could be one of those memories coming back to her.
I hoped for something useful, something to lead us to what or rather; who the real threat was. I had already sent for Mark, hopefully he would be here with Lily soon, so I could go back to the party and see if he would show himself to me. I had a few questions to ask, and more warnings to give. It was high time he left Chloe alone!
Everything I thought I had the power to protect her from, were coming right to my doorstep and tormenting her. It was roughly nine months ago she lost her parents, and they are back so soon to keep troubling her. I really wished I could grant her the peace of mind she really deserved.
She turned again, groaning in her sleep and this time, I saw her eyes twitch me knew she was coming awake. I pressed her down when she started to tremble, struggling against my hold. Suddenly, her body went still and then, her eyes fluttered open. She stared up at me for too long and if not for her rotating eyeballs, I would have thought they was no life in her. "B... baby?"
"Phew!" I released a breath that I had not even realized that I was holding. I help her to sit up, putting a pillow behind her back to give her some support. "Yes honey, it's me."
"What happened?" She asked, turning to look at her bare chest. She pulled the sheets to cover herself and I left, going into our closet and coming back with one of my t-shirts. She bent her head and I pulled it over her. "Thank you," she muttered.
I nodded, coming to sit at her feet. "You were tossing and murmuring in your sleep, I think you had a bad dream."
"It was not a dream," she said in a low voice, her eyes hardening with anger. "It was a damn revelation!" She handed me her palm and I took it, wondering what she was trying to do until she placed it against her chest. "Here, you have to see this..."
Chloe's POV:
He was the murderer...
I had seen it as clear as it all happened nine months ago, my grandfather alongside my uncle, had ambushed and killed my parents!
I could feel Marcus's eyes on me, as my eyes began to glow red. For the first time in all of my life, never had I craved to take another person's life like the way I did now. I would shove my talons right through my grandfather's chest and rip out his cold heart (that's if he even had one, to begin with).
Uncle Tom or whatever he called himself was a different story, I would take my time with him. I would strike when he least expected and then, I'll would rip to shreds him and every single person who was an active participant in the dead of my parents.
My thoughts shifted to my brothers; Angelo and Jason. Jason had saved me but obviously, he still wasn't so fond of me. I needed to see him, see them both. I needed to know what happened after I left, how my grandfather managed to find me again and what happened with my father's siblings and their pack.
"Baby?"
His voice was distant, like he wasn't sitting here right in front of me. I knew he had seen all of my memories, everyone of them and if anyone should know how furious I was, he should.
"Chloe, you are getting out of control! You need to calm down and let's talk."
I was looking right into his eyes, but I could not see him. All I kept seeing was blood and more blood. They was blood everywhere and still, I didn't feel okay, it felt like I needed to shed some more blood.
"Coward," I whispered to myself. "I. Am. A. Fucking. Coward!" I roared, slamming the back of my head against the headboard. It throb painfully, but the pains could never be compared to the one I felt in my heart. It felt like my chest was being ripped apart!
"Baby, don't tell me you blame yourself for what happened?"
My eyes slowly turned to meet his blue and I couldn't help the sob that escaped me, when I saw the hurt in his eyes. He was here hurting for me, when I couldn't do anything to help my parents.
"Maybe they would have survived if I had willingly gone with my grandfather," I whispered, a lone tear rolling down my cheek. "I shouldn't have ran like a coward, I should have stayed and fight beside them or better still, tried to resolve but I did nothing."
"You have in faults in all of -"
"Hell I don't," I snapped, coming off harsher than I intended to. My eyes lowered when I saw the hurt look that crossed his face. "I am sorry," I muttered, burying my face in my palms.
He pulled me into his arms for the second time that night, letting me cry without judging. Letting me complain about the 'ifs and if nots', not once did he give me any evidence of getting fed up with my ranting.
We stayed that way for a long time, until I dozed off again.

I heard whispering in the distance, the voices sounding far away as I slowly regained consciousness. My mind was now fully awake, but my heavy eyes wouldn't allow me flip them open.
I struggled to open them, but found myself drifting back to sleep. My mind lost consciousness slowly, until all I saw was pitch black.
The next time I woke up, it was noon already. I was still in Marcus's shirt from last night and his side of the bed was empty and cold. I turned to the side, grabbing the glass of water and silently thanking whoever had been thoughtfully enough to leave me one. I raised the upper part of my body up and downed the liquid in one go, gently slamming the glass back on the bed stool.
Getting out of bed, I pulled the shirt over my head and lazily strode to the bathroom. I needed an urgent shower, it just couldn't wait any longer because I could already perceive the sweaty smell emanating from me. Not bothering preparing myself a bath, I turned on the shower, grabbed soap and stepped into the water. My whole body got damp in no time and as I apply the soap to my hair, the lather foamed, washing down my body.
I took my time to concentrate on certain areas and once I was done, I turned off the water and stepped out. I grabbed a large towel on my way out, drying my hair before quickly drying off the rest of my body.
My fresh clothes consisted of: another of Marcus's shirt, and a little mid-thigh shorts I got from Lilly. I threw my feet into the pink artificial fur flip-flops that Marcus has gotten for me as peace offering. A smile graced my lips at the thought of him and I was tired of staying in bed sulking all day. My mind was already made up, I had to tell him so we make a decision and start acting, no one would go unpunished, I will make sure of that!
I shut the door behind me, surveying downstairs as a few servants were going about. I could hear that the kitchen was busy as usual, with the cooks trying to fix and lunch. I took the stairs one at a time, halting when I got to the bottom then turn right and headed past the many doors as I headed for the one at the end of the corridor.
He wasn't alone.
Instead of going in, I raised my hand and knocked on the wooden door. I waited for just a second before I heard the sound of a chair scrape the floor, and footsteps approaching.
The door flung open, and my lips thinned and eyes narrowed, as they met who was behind the door. He should have noticed the change in my demeanor, because he lowered his eyes, holding the door wider to let me in.
I got in, not bothering to mutter my thanks. My eyes settled on Marcus who sat behind his desk, his huge form making him look like he could take on the world in the snap of a finger. And I had no doubt he could!
His eyes were already on me, his lips tightly pressed together but his eyes showed his clear amusement. He leaned back in his chair, looking at something behind me, or rather, someone.
Titus tiptoed past me, pulling back a chair. And just when he was about to sit, I stopped him halfway.
"I wish to speak with my husband," he looked from me to Marcus, confusion growing on his features. "Alone," I ventured.
He finally nodded, giving Marcus a deep bow and also giving me a similar one before leaving. His stepped were fast and precise, making me wonder where he was going to.
Marcus open his arms, inviting me in and I walked over to him and plopped down on his lap. He held my fast, giving me a short but sweet kiss. "How was your sleep?"
I shrugged. "Satisfying, I guess."
He gave me that look. "Was there any more revelation?"
I shook my head in refusal, shoulders sagging slightly.
He caressed my exposed thighs, drawing little circles on them. "We already have enough clue, and I've sent Titus to look into your uncle's and get back to me." He released a breath, gracing me with a beautiful smile. "I have also asked that the soldiers be trained ten times harder than they already are, we can't afford defeat this time. What do you say?"
I gave him a proud look, loving how he was learning to accord me the respect which I deserved. "I agree with you, I want bloodshed! Let's do this together and not stop until they are all dead!"
I looked him dead in the eye, only feeling satisfied when I saw the understanding in his eyes. He wasn't going into war without me, I want be the last thing my grandfather and uncle see, before they breath their last. I want to see the fear for death lurk in their eyes, as they stayed up at me!
"I have a request." I finally took my eyes away from him, adjusting myself to now lean my back against his front. He gave a grunt, so I took that as my cue to proceed. "I want to form a female army."
I waited with batted breath, as he breathed softly behind me. The question had not changed the form of his breathing and hopefully, he wouldn't reject my request.
I waited.
And waited.
And I was still waiting, while he remained silent. I had started to get frustrated by his silence and just as I was about to lash out at him, he said:
"Fine, do whatever you want."
A wide toothed grin, snuck it's way into me face. I craned my neck to give him a light peck on the cheek. Then I turned around to straddle him, both my legs hanging off on either side of him. "Baby?" "What is it again?" His voice dripped with caution.
"The way am seeing it, it's like I have another request."
"Not again," he muttered grudgingly, slapping a palm against his face....
