Chloe's POV:

Sometime, far into the night, Lily had already left and I was fast asleep in bed but my mind was still awake. I heard the door crack open a bit, the pressure being mounted on it being pushed back has to be a little amount because I almost wouldn't have heard it if not for my good hearing abilities.

I tried to force my eyes open, but the sleep had no intention on letting me do that. I had starved my body of too much sleep and it needed time to recover all the loss. The bed dipped beside me, as Marcus's strong scent drifted into my nose. "Baby," I heard him whisper, stroking my hair gently. "I hope you're fine now? Hope you had no more nightmares and I hope you wouldn't be having any of those. I'll protect you from ..."

I couldn't hear anything from there on, my mind had drifted off to wonder land and this time around, I found myself at a different place and at a different time.

I was still about five years old or so. I was out in the fields of our house where I grew up, playing with a little pink butterfly. I saw my dad training at his little training ground where he usually did rounds every morning and my mom, was in the kitchen cooking something on the cooker.

Little me called out to her and she waved vigorously at me, giving me her 'still so familiar' loving smile. I returned my focus back to the butterfly and it was getting away. I chased after it, unknowingly wandering into the woods where my parents had asked me never to go on my own.

I stumbled upon fallen branches and twigs, soon my little legs gave up under me and I fell face first on the ground. By the time I lifted my head, my face was covered in mud and the butterfly was long gone. I'd lost it!

I little heart couldn't bear the loss and I started to sob, calling out for my mum as I turned to go home. But to my dismay, I couldn't find the way I came from, I lost my way. I got frightened, beginning to cry for my parents as I hoped someone was going to find me soon and take me home.

I fell on the floor, raising my knees up to my chest as I wept. If only I had listened to my mummy, I wouldn't be caught up in such a scary situation.

I don't know for how long I had been sitting there, but then I heard a noise behind me and there, stood a strange man. I quickly sprang up to my feet and stumbled backwards, as I tried to move away from the stranger. "Chloe..." the stranger called my name.

My little face contorted into one of great confusion. "Who are you?" I asked cautiously.

He gave me a smile that almost looked loving, if not for how ugly his face twisted as he tried to force it. "Aren't you a lovely little girl? I see why your parents tried to keep you away from me for such a long time," the man said. My little feet added as much distance as it could between the stranger and I, then I asked again: "Who are you?"

A deep chuckle left his chest. "Aren't you too curious for your age little one?"

"Then I won't talk to you, my mother said not to talk to strangers."

The stranger raised his hand then in mock surrender. "Oh dear, what will I do if little Chloe refused to talk to me," he sighed in exasperation. "I had better introduced myself then," he added. "My name is Dracula. I am your mother's father, your grandfather," he said coolly.

"My grandpa?"

He nodded.

"Then where have you been all these time?" I asked, curiosity shining through my little green eyes.

He ignored that question, rather saying: "I have missed you so much," he spread his arms wide, gesturing for me to come to him. "Come to grandpa little one, come to me," he encouraged.

Little me had fallen for his emotional trick, not being able to decipher between fake and real. I took little steps towards him and didn't move away when he lowered himself to my level and picked me up in his arms. "Where are you taking me?" I asked.

"Don't worry, you're safe with me. I want to show you something."

He waved his hand in the air and suddenly, we vanished into thin air only to appear in another place entirely. It was a dark cave, human skulls littered the floors and I held tighter onto my grandfather. We walked past vampires and every who saw us bowed, staring at me in awe.

Being a shy kid, her hide my face in my grand father's shoulder, avoiding all the stares. How could I have been so trusting to follow a stranger I had only met a few minutes ago, all because he claimed to be my grand father. But I couldn't blame little me, I was too young to know right from wrong.

We entered into a large room and everyone lowered their heads. It seemed like a throne room and they was a large throne at the end. Grandpa walked us through the path the people had created on either side of us. I looked to see if I'd find any familiar faces and then, I spot my brother; Angelo.

I opened my mouth to call out to him but he gestured for me to remain silent by putting a finger across his lips. I felt disappointed, but obeyed.

Finally, we reached the throne and grandpa sat on it, putting me on his lap. "It is indeed a good day vampires," he said in pleased voice. "Behold my grand daughter, future queen of this coven!"

There was murmuring amongst the people. My little lips formed a pout as I looked up at my grandfather. "Do they not like me, grandpa?"

He tried to give a fake smile that looked convincing at that time. "No princess, that is not the case." He put me down, lightly pushing me towards where Angelo stood beside a man who look exactly like him. I could confuse him for Angelo, but Angelo had shiny black hair like my mother's and the strange man had a lighter brown colour. "Go take your place beside your brother."

I Walked towards Angelo, going to stand beside him and grabbing his hand. I turned my attention back to my grandfather, and he was glaring icily at mine and Angelo's joined hand. I got scared and shrugged my hand out, and grandfather's eyes flickered up to mine and he gave me a tight smile.

His attention shifted back to the people who looked to be a council and he started to say things which by the look on my face, I couldn't comprehend by then.

"Hey princess, how did you get here?" Angelo whispered.

My eyes flickered up to his and I gave him a wide smile. "Grandpa brought me here," I whispered back.

He nodded and my eyes flickered over to the man who was beside him. He was already scrutinizing me and when I smiled, he growled at me, giving me a deadly glare.

I quivered in fear, going to hide behind Angelo's legs as I peeked up at him. Angelo said something and he finally took his eyes away from me. I strange man had scared the daylight out of me and I didn't so comfortable any longer. I tugged at Angelo's cape and he looked down at me. "I wanna go home to mummy," I whispered.

He nodded back, giving me an assuring smile.

Soon, the place became noisy and I turned back to find a man pointing an accusing finger at me.

"She can't be future queen, she's a monster! Your daughter went against all the rules that had guarded us for millenniums, she turned her back on us first and mingled with the enemy. We can't accept a werewolf blood as our queen!" "We can't!" The rest chorused their disagreement.

It seemed like everyone in the room was glaring at me and I began to cry for my mother. Angelo picked me up in his arms, taking me over to grandpa as he had ordered.

Grandpa placed me on his legs, cooing me to silence, and he promised to take me to my mother. He dismissed everyone and soon we were left alone. "Let's get you back home, shall we?" He waved his hand again and this time, we appeared back in the woods that surrounded our home.

He put me on the floor, coming to kneel in front of me. "We shall forget all that you have seen, you shall forget all that you have heard, untill we meet again."

I couldn't recall what happened from there, I found myself little self moving out of the forests, back to where I remembered playing with the butterfly. I looked around and couldn't find my dad anywhere out there. The kitchen window was still open but my mum wasn't behind it. Where could there have gone?

"Chloeeeeeeee!"

"Chloeeeeeeeeee!"

Mum? Dad?

"I'm here!" I screamed back in my own little voice. It didn't take up to a second, my mum zoomed out of the woods and was beside me. A moment later, my dad joined us. "Were you looking for me?"

My mum picked me up, hugging me close to her chest as she dropped a large kiss on the side of my head. "Of course we were, don't ever scare me like that again," she sniffed, her hair sticking to her wet face.

My dad plucked me from her arms, hugging me tightly like I was going to vanish anytime soon. "Where were you sweetie? We searched everywhere for you!"

My little face scrunched up in confusion. "I didn't go anywhere, I only went there-" I pointed towards where I had come from. "-to get my friend," I replied innocently.

My dad stiffened, sharing a troubled look with my mum. "Chloe, who is this friend of yours, you speak of?"

"My butterfly," I replied. My face fell when I recalled that I had lost it. "I lost it," I said sadly.

He mum heaved a sigh of relief, sharing a relieved smile with my father. "Aww baby, it's okay," my mum cooed. "Don't you worry, I will find you a bigger and lovelier, okay?"

I nodded, giving her a dazzling smile.

My mind went blank after that and all I could see was darkness. It got brighter as I regained my consciousness and this time when my eyes fluttered open, I didn't scream in fright.

I just laid for about three minutes, wanting to be certain that I had had a dream and none for that had happened. I finally sat up, looking around my silver covered room and sighed.

The man who had come me in the forest and who I had seen in my first dream, wasn't Angelo. That was my grandfather, my mother's father.

My memories were coming back in fragments and they were coming in the form of dreams. If anything, I felt a little relieved and hoped that they'll all come back to me some day. I was no longer too confused, at least now I had a clue of what my problem really was.

Was I supposed to be thankful that Marcus had locked me in here? It seemed like he finally gave my memory a chance to rest and recuperate from all the erasing my grandfather had done on me.

My eyes glanced through the open window and I looked up to the sky. A tear sipped out of my eyes and dropped into my cheek as I remembered my parents. Was there ever a time they hadn't been sweet on me? That I couldn't remember. They always treated me like I was the most important thing in the world and life was so cruel to snatch them away from me. I needed to recall as much as I could... if my mind was hinting on the truth, then I knew who was the enemy. All I needed now was: more clues and revived memories...
