Chloe's

POV

My eyes blazed with defiance as my hands balled into fists at my sides. "No," I growled, my voice low and dangerous.

"I don't believe you. You're trying to trick me, to turn me against Marcus. I won't listen to your lies. I won't, you just hate Marcus and you're trying to make me hate him, stop making up scenarios that never happened." Jason's jaw tightened, his expression turning to stone.

"We're not lying, Chloe. And we're not trying to turn you against Marcus. We're trying to protect you but you won't listen..."

"I won't" I snapped, stepping forward until I was nose-to-nose with my brother.

"I'll only listen to you when you break this damn spell and let me go. If Marcus really did what you claim he did, then I'll deal with it when I get back to the pack. Just let me go and even if you don't, I'll find a way out because I'm not staying here any longer. I'm leaving now."

My brother's eyes flashed with anger.

"You'll do no such thing, Chloe. You're not going back to that bloody pack, not until we're sure you're safe."

This was hard.

Convincing these two to let me do things the way I wanted them was hard. I wonder why they still saw me as a child even with the size of my stomach.

I have made them understand a million times that I was capable of handling myself but they never listened.

A thick silence enveloped us as they exchanged a long, heavy look. The weight of their decision hung in the air, thick and oppressive until they finally nodded in unison.

"Fine," Angelo said, his voice resolute. "We'll go with you, but only to ensure your safety. Once we've confirmed that Marcus is not a threat, we'll bring you home."

I stared at them in disbelief, the shock and relief washing over me like a tidal wave, but I didn't want to believe Marcus was capable of such cruelty.

It has never happened.

"But," Jason interjected, his voice tinged with worry, "if Marcus has indeed committed such an act, we will not stand by and allow him to hurt you. Do you understand, Chloe? We will do everything in our power to protect you, even if it means killing that bastard that calls himself an Alpha, are we clear?"

My head was banging as I swallowed hard. This is the most difficult decision I've had to make in a long time.

If I continue to fight, they'll not hesitate to lock me in here till I turn old and gray "I understand," I said, my voice small but steady. "But you'll see that Marcus is innocent. I know him, I know his heart. He would never hurt anyone."

"Chloe," he began, his eyes pleading, "I know how this feels. it's hard for you to comprehend and I totally understand. Left for me, I'll never allow you to set eyes on that bastard again, since you believe Marcus is innocent, we'd use our powers and together we'd teleport you to the hospital, if you see the proof you need promise me you'd stay away from Marcus?"

Biting my lips hard as the weight of the bargain pressed down on me like a thousand pounds of lead, my legs wobbled as I progressed to defend Marcus "And if I don't see any proof?" I asked, my voice shaking.

"You really are stubborn Chloe, do you think we are so jobless to make this all up because of your wolf husband. If you must know we work with facts and not mere words but if you decide not to see any proof even when it's glaring then we will return home and we will drop the matter. You will be free to return to Marcus and resume your life with him as you see fit."

My heart thumped erratically in my chest as I swallowed hard, the decision weighing heavily on me. On one hand, I was sure of Marcus' innocence. But on the other, I couldn't ignore the seed of doubt that had been planted in my mind by Jason and Angelo.

"Fine," I said at last, extending my hand to Jason. "I agree. We'll go to the hospital. But... we won't go unless you break this spell. It's wrong that you cast a spell on me without my permission. You're the reason I don't feel like myself any longer. Just let me go, if I wanted to disobey you, you won't even know of my intentions."

"You've agreed to our bargain, Chloe." Jason said, his voice as firm as iron. "You'll see for yourself what Marcus has done. And until then, our spell remains in place."

My face fell, my heart sinking into my stomach. "Please, Jason." I begged, my voice raw with emotion. "I need my powers to protect myself, to protect my unborn child, you know that. If I can't do something as easy as teleporting, what makes me a vampire then?"

"But we need to keep you safe from that wild dog." Jason countered, his expression unmoving. "Until we know for certain what he's capable of, the spell stays."

"Fuck! You both should stop treating me like a child. I never asked to be born this way. The moon goddess who made Marcus my mate has a reason for it. Stop pushing me away from him and making me look stupid for falling in love. Break this fucking spell already."

"Can you just calm down and stop acting like a child? It's just a simple spell. It'd be out in a snap of a finger!" Jason roared, his expression hardening by the second and I felt irritated by his attitude because he was making this look irrelevant. "I swear on the moon goddess if you don't break the damn spell. I'll smash your fucking heads against the wall and I wouldn't be sorry, dare me."

"Chloe, we'd do whatever it is to keep you safe even if it means protecting you from yourself."
