Alpha's Little Vampire Mate -
CHAPTER 142
Marcus's
POV
As I stepped into the room, my breath got caught in my throat at the sight before me.
Lizzie!
My eyes drank in the sight of her, from the fiery shade of her dress to the seductive way she sat, her long legs crossed in a way that spoke volumes about her intentions.
She was stunning, her dark hair cascading over one shoulder, framing her face with a perfect elegance that almost belied the smoldering sensuality in her eyes.
Anger boiled within me as I regarded Lizzie with a hard, calculating gaze.
"Why are you here, Lizzie?" I demanded, my voice cold and sharp.
She met my stare with a half-smile, her expression a picture of calm confidence. "Oh, Marcus" she purred, tilting her head to one side.
"Is that any way to greet an old friend? Especially one who has traveled so far to offer you comfort in this trying time?"
I clenched my teeth, irritation and suspicion creeping into my words. "Comfort? From you? You're highly delusional Lizzie!"
Lizzie chuckled, the sound low and throaty.
"Oh, how quickly you forget, Alpha Marcus." she said, her voice laced with amusement. "I know this palace like the back of my hand. Every corridor, every hidden room... I know the secrets these walls hold. Perhaps some of them could be of use to you in your quest to find your missing mate?"
My hackles rose at her words, my wolf bristling at her veiled threat. "Chloe's whereabouts is none of your business and for the record, my mate is not missing, she's just away for some time and I suggest you mind your business!" I growled. Lizzie's smile widened, her eyes gleaming with a devious light. "Is that so?" she drawled, a slender finger tapping against her ruby-red lips.
"You're looking for Chloe, a young hybrid who barely knows you, yet here I am, your first mate, the mother of your child..."
My stomach churned at her words, the truth twisting like a knife in my gut.
"Admit it, Marcus." she continued, "You're only fixated on Chloe because you feel guilty for casting me aside."
Lizzie uncrossed her long legs and then proceeded to pull herself up. Soon, she began to approach me, her movements sinuous and seductive.
"I know you still feel it, Marcus." she breathed, the heat of her body radiating like a warm summer breeze.
"That spark, that connection. Our mating bond was real, pure. Why chase after a new mate when you could have me by your side? The mother of your child, the Luna of your pack."
I took a step back, her proximity overwhelming my senses, the seductive scent of her perfume was making me lose focus as my legs wobbled.
"No," I growled, my jaw clenching in anger and frustration.
"Chloe is my mate, Lizzie. She is the one I will stand beside, the one I will raise my children with. I don't know anything about the child you claim to have with me, go back to wherever you came from and remain there."
Lizzie's eyes flashed dangerously, her voice dropping to a menacing hiss. "How... dare... you," she spat. "So you think I should have stayed and allowed our child to perish? If you had shown me even an ounce of the devotion you've shown this little girl? This girl who has barely even grown into her own claws? Do you know what I went through raising that girl alone, are you not even interested in knowing your own child?"
Lizzie's rage seemed to flare like a wildfire, her body trembling with barely restrained anger. "I will never forgive you for what you did to me Marcus. Do you know how many pups you ripped out of me, does she know how you beat me till i pass out, i endured with you for ninety five years Marcus." She seethed, her words vibrating with hatred.
"And if you do not stay right by me and choose this weak, insignificant little pup over me, I will make sure you regret it for the rest of your cursed life."
I watched her with a mix of disbelief and horror, her words stirring a primal fear deep within my core.
Lizzie took a step forward, her eyes boring into mine with a dark intensity. "I will burn this palace to the ground, Marcus. I will tear you apart, brick by brick, until the very earth trembles at my name. You may be the Alpha, but you are not immune to the wrath of a scorned mate."
Her words seemed to echo through the room, reverberating in my skull like the drums of war. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves and the shaking in my limbs.
"You would betray your own pack?" I snarled, my voice low and dangerous. "You would spill the blood of innocent wolves in a vain attempt to prove your own superiority?"
Lizzie's expression hardened, her eyes glittering with malice. "Pack, I turned my back on this pack the moment I left. I will do whatever it takes to get what I deserve, Marcus." she hissed. "And if that means tearing this pack down, then so be it. It is not my pack anymore. It is yours, and you will watch it burn."
Her words hung in the air like a heavy fog, suffocating and treacherous. This is bad and as much as I hated to admit, I was afraid of Lizzie.
"You're insane, Lizzie," I spat, my hands clenched into fists. "You would sacrifice the lives of so many for your own petty revenge and you think I'll allow it, you think I'll sit and allow a little rat like you threaten me and I'll start shaking, you must be mad. You're not a queen, you're a monster."
Lizzie let out a low chuckle, her laughter sounding as cold and cruel as the wind howling through the mountains.
"A monster?" she said with a twisted smirk. "Perhaps I am. But it's better to be a monster than to be nothing at all, wouldn't you agree?"
