After the Eight Years of Love I Gave Up -
Chapter 60
Love Story6 - Chapter 9
The private room suddenly fell silent, About fifteen seconds later, Lysander's phone suddenly rang.
"I told you Everly loves you so much and cares about you, Cassius, look, it's Everly calling!"
Lysander said excitedly.
And everyone noticed that Cassius's face, which had been full of resentment, seemed to soften a bit.
"Cassius, will you answer it?"
Lysander held out the phone, but Cassius turned his face away without even looking.
Lysander cheerfully said, "I'll answer."
He deliberately put it on speaker, and when Everly's voice came through, Cassius's lips instantly tightened.
"Lysander, what happened? Are you hurt?"
"It's not me, it's Cassius's hand. You don't know how severe the injury is, how scary it looks, the bleeding won't stop..."
Lysander rambled on for a while, but there was silence on the other end of the phone.
"Everly, are you listening? How about... how about you come back? Cassius won't go to the hospital, but we can't let him keep bleeding like this." "Lysander." Everly's voice was still as gentle and pleasant as ever.
"Yes, what is it Everly? I'm listening."
Lysander responded while winking at Cassius.
"From now on, don't tell me anything about him."
The smile on Lysander's face instantly fell: "Everly?"
"Also, happy birthday, Lysander."
"Um, Everly... you, hey don't hang up, Everly..."
But the sound of the call disconnecting had already rung out clearly.
Lysander was completely stunned, holding the phone as if it were a hot potato.
He truly wished he could slap himself unconscious, Why did he have to meddle in other people's business for no reason, stirring up such trouble? The private room was dead silent.
Cassius, however, looked at everyone with a calm expression and smiled: "What, cat got your tongues?"
No one dared to speak.
Cassius smiled again: "Why the hell is everyone quiet now?"
"Cassius..."
"Don't get angry, don't get angry, the bleeding has increased again!"
"Cassius, you know Everly's temper best."
Thalia, who had been sitting quietly in the corner, suddenly spoke up:
"Actually, I've wanted to say this for a long time. What you did before was too hurtful."
"Everly is a girl, and girls are the most thin-skinned. Even if you don't like her anymore, you should have ended things on good terms..."
"Who said I wanted to end things with her on good terms!"
Cassius laughed scornfully and coldly: "She's been with me for seven years, even if I raised a dog it would be loyal by now!"
Thalia laughed very lightly: "Have you ever thought about how many seven-year periods a girl has in her life?"
"What if Everly really never comes back?"
"Impossible." No one noticed the slight tremor in Cassius's voice.
"Is there anything truly impossible in this world? When a heart is thoroughly broken and turned cold, how hard is it to warm it up again?"
"Cassius, don't do something you'll regret for the rest of your life."
After saying this, Thalia didn't linger any longer. She picked up her bag and walked towards the exit.
Lysander, sitting not far away, looked at her with an inscrutable gaze, his wife of two years.
Was she sympathizing with Everly, speaking up for her?
Or was she reminiscing about her own pain, criticizing Lysander for not being a good husband?
"Lysander, aren't you going to see Thalia off?"
Lysander curled his lips, lighting a cigarette: "No need."
"You're just being difficult." His friend shook his head helplessly.
Lysander made no response.
Thalia was different from Everly.
Everly had no burdensome family background and could earn money on her own.
If they really broke up, it would just mean a slight decrease in her quality of life.
But Thalia had a family behind her that was a bottomless pit of expenses, and a bedridden older brother.
Thalia couldn't afford to leave Lysander.
