Book 3- Chapter 5

Knox's whole body froze.

He never expected this to happen, and even I didn't anticipate things would develop in this direction.

But before I had time to think it through, Knox, who had come to his senses, had already taken control and pressed the back of my head, pinching my chin and kissing me fiercely. Unlike my light taste, Knox's kiss was fierce, domineering, and unrelenting.

I was kissed until I could hardly breathe, desperately patting his chest, but unable to break free even a little bit.

After a long while, Knox finally let me go.

He looked at me, his gaze burning hot, extremely dangerous.

"Lark, do you know what you're doing?"

I stubbornly looked at him: "I know."

"You know?"

"Then do you know what will happen next if you do this?"

I gritted my teeth, tears flowing down the corners of my eyes.

"They were in the car today..."

"Knox, you have a car too."

Knox's breathing hitched, then he suddenly picked me up bridal style and headed straight for the car.

Knox's car was a huge SUV with very spacious interiors.

When he pressed me onto the back seat, he looked down at me, his voice filled with barely contained desire.

"Lark, I'm asking you one last time. If you don't stop me now, you'll never have the chance to stop again."

Ryker's phone call hadn't hung up, the harsh ringtone kept ringing, playing the song that both Sage and I loved the most.

I didn't answer, I just wrapped my arms around his neck and offered my lips to him once again.

Ryker, this is the price you pay for betraying me.

The pain you've inflicted on me, I'll return it without missing a bit.

When I woke up, it was already the next afternoon.

My whole body was in pain, as if I had been run over by a car.

I couldn't remember how I got to Knox's house, I only remembered Knox ravaging me like a beast, demanding and taking, until I passed out from exhaustion. There were no clothes of mine in the room, so I had to take a large T-shirt from the connected walk-in closet.

Walking out of the bedroom and down the stairs, I was startled by a sudden sound from the kitchen.

"Awake?"

I turned my head abruptly, my gaze colliding with Knox's.

Knox's eyes held a hint of a smile: "Quite the sleeper. Come and eat, you must be starving."

Compared to Knox's composure, I was somewhat embarrassed.

Climbing into Knox's bed in a moment of hot-headedness after being hurt by Ryker and Sage was something I hadn't anticipated even for myself. But at this point, I didn't regret it.

Seeing my expression, the smile on Knox's face gradually faded.

"Your phone automatically shut off yesterday, I helped you charge it."

"Ryker called many times."

"If you regret it, I can cooperate with any explanation you want to give."

His face showed no expression, but his voice was a bit hoarse:

"You don't have to feel troubled."

I glanced at the phone on the dining table, and after a long silence, I spoke in a low voice.

"I'm not troubled, and there's nothing to explain."

"Knox, thank you for taking me in yesterday... If it weren't for you, I don't know if I'd still be in this world."

"As for Ryker and me, there are still many scores to settle with him"

Hearing this, the gloom on Knox's face cleared instantly.

He came over and wrapped one arm around my waist, placing a kiss on the corner of my lips.

"Perfect, I love settling scores."
