After the Eight Years of Love I Gave Up -
Chapter 19
Book 2 - Chapter 9
Louis has a strange habit.
He likes excitement, he likes women.
Every time he gets together with friends, he drinks himself into a stupor.
But there's one thing: no matter how drunk he gets, no matter how beautiful the women around him are, he always only wants me to come pick him up and take him home.
How many nights have I been woken up from my sleep by phone calls, coming to the bar to pull him away from women?
How many times have I taken off his shirts reeking of perfume, helping him to bed to rest?
How many times have I faced others' mockery, calmly sending away strange women for him?
Before, this was the responsibility I had to bear as Mrs. Wood.
Now, I just raised an eyebrow, smiling as I asked them to let me pass.
Stephen's expression froze, he frowned and asked me:
"Did you and Louis have a fight?"
I shook my head.
"No, I'm just tired of it all."
I don't know if it was the word "fight" or "tired" that triggered Louis.
He suddenly pushed away the woman supporting him, his eyes full of anger.
"Eliza! Haven't you had enough! If you're unsatisfied with something, just say it directly. I can change, can't I?"
This was the first time Louis had lowered his head. Stephen was so shocked his eyes widened.
But my heart remained unmoved.
Politely asking him to let me pass, I prepared to leave.
But Louis grabbed my wrist.
"Eliza, come home with me."
Before I could speak, a hand suddenly reached out from behind me, pulling Louis's hand away for me.
"Sir, please show some respect."
Jacob, holding a coat in his hand, coldly pulled Louis's hand away.
"You're looking for death!" Louis's eyes instantly bloodshot, he turned to throw a punch.
I sighed, stepping in front of Jacob.
"Stop it."
The light words seemed like a pause button.
Louis's movement stopped, he looked at me in disbelief.
"Eliza, you're helping him? Who is he?"
I looked up, meeting his bloodshot eyes directly.
"Does it matter? Louis, we've broken up."
Louis's lips moved, as if wanting to say something, but I didn't want to hear it.
Smiling and nodding goodbye to Stephen, I pushed past him and left directly.
Until I walked out of the hotel, I could still feel the unwilling gaze from behind. "Thank you for just now."
Walking side by side with Jacob, I thanked him embarrassedly.
Jacob made a sound of acknowledgment and asked:
"Was that Louis? Your taste is quite poor."
The simple two sentences made me laugh out loud.
If he knew I had a crush on him before, I wonder if he would regret saying those words.
Thinking this, I unconsciously spoke it out loud.
"Jacob, if I tell you that I used to like you, would you still think my taste is poor?"
"Poor. The Jacob from before wasn't worthy of your liking."
Jacob stopped walking.
I was stunned for a moment, looking at him strangely.
But he turned his head away, not looking at me.
"The Jacob from before was too cowardly, so he missed out on many things."
I didn't understand his meaning and was about to ask further when I heard him say:
"I'll send you the time and address for the interview when I get back. Prepare well."
My attention was instantly diverted, and I sincerely thanked him.
Everything seemed to be developing in a good direction.
